Default How Coldplay Lost Their Way................

If one listens to their first album it has such a innocent indie feeling to it and followed by their stunning Rush Of Blood To The Head filled with songs spurned on by their debut success. Onward to their third offering with a grander feeling, but less emotional songs. Stepping forward with the weight of the world on them their music became more complex. A total full on production with vocals mixed low and so many musical sounds the songs got lost by enormity........After that it was a total was out with things that did not even sound like Coldplay!
They may have salvaged what is left of their image with Ghost Stories.......There is still hope in my opinion.

I imagine they lost their way when Chris Martin said "Hey let's start a band."

Eh, for me Coldplay is the definition of an average band that got treated way better than they ever deserved. I liked Rush of Blood alright - though I don't think it was as great as it was reported - but I really couldn't get into them after that.

They're Diet U2, basically.

Maybe even Caffeine Free Diet U2.

Free Trade Caffeine Free Diet U2.

Ok. With Lime.

...anyway, where were all those Coldplay fans when Blur, Pulp and The Verve were releasing great albums that got totally ignored over here in the States?

I really love the first two Coldplay albums, after that Viva La Vida is the only other one that made me give any attention to it.

They made a tremendous blunder when they decided to exist

*edited to add: Frownie essentially said the same thing moments before I did. GMTA and all that...

Coldplay are probably pretty amazing if you've never heard of U2, The Smiths, REM, New Order... I'm not going to exhaust myself typing out the rest of the bands they rip off of.

This reminds me of a joke I used to crack about this guy I knew who was really into Coldplay. He always used to sing along- 'how longggg will i standddddddddd/with my head stuck under the saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand'. I told him until he stopped listening to Coldplay.

hahaha, yeah, I never really got the hype behind this band, still don't. Fine if you dig them, but we'll still make fun of you for it.
