The Batlord still listens to Manowar so I'm going to post 'I still listen to the music I listened to in high school' on his behalf.

I PROUDLY continue to listen to the music from my teen years. Of course, some more than others. Likewise, there's music that grew on me as well as time went on. Personally, the word "nostalgia" makes me CRINGE! Good music will ALWAYS stand the test of time ( :thumb:...:hphones: )!

I was a teenager in the 90s, but even then I listened to a lot of Beatles and Grateful Dead. Still listen to them occasionally.

As a teenager I listened to the Beatles. I still listen to them.

All of it. I'm 25 and I love all music. I also still listen to stuff I listened to from well before my teenage years.

Interesting thread. I had no idea there were people who could abandon music they liked as a teenager, considering that it is such a formative time in your life and for many it's one thing that keeps them going through those dark years.

Most of it gets play on occasion, nostalgia is very powerful in my life. I've even tried to defend some of the ****tier bands, but at the end of the day if I heard something almost identical I'd think it was horrible. Its just nostalgia.

I also was and continue to be really into movie soundtracks, having a specific scene to music tends to grind it deeper into your psyche.

Haha, yes! The dark years of adolescence! I´m surprised to hear that you suffered any of those, misspoptart.
For myself, I remember a time when music wasn´t just a pleasure or diversion, it was a necessary psychological defense against an uncaring world.

Yes, that overlay of nostalgia can be really powerful, and although I rarely listen to music from my teenage years, there are a few favourite songs that instantly take me back. This one, for instance, - Gerry Rafferty´s homage to an old artist friend- is just like biting a fork and hitting a nerve:-

12 - 16 consisted entirely of metal, primarily thrash, traditional classic metal, and classic rock.
16 - 18 consisted entirely of hardcore punk and crust.

I still enjoy most of the bands I was listening to in high school but my primary taste in music is much different now.
