The Pains of Being Pure at Heart always annoyed me with their stupid long ass name.

Why not go for ''Adolf Hitler's left nipple and the chest hairs''

^ Janszoon has beaten me to it with this observation. Some bands chose a name that is just swamped with links when you try to search for them. Two examples are the German bands Vox and Can, although to be fair they chose their names before web searching was commonplace.
Other bands, though, shoot themselves in the foot right from the start by choosing a name which is difficult to spell or pronounce. Step forward OFGKTA, the band that Machine mentioned, and Lynerd Skynerd.
Heh, I had the same problem looking up Can a while ago.

Also, the Flaming Tsunamis is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, exactly. Like Helmet, James, Kansas, Say Anything, Boys Like Girls, Muse.

Or you could always look up "can band".

I know, I realised that later.
I'm surprised ''The Band'' is actually one of the first things to come up when you type in the band.

^ Wow! If this thread is about commercially disastrous band names, I think you´ve picked the winner !

^ Yeah, who would´ve expected that ?

Is Hitler´s Nipples really a band ? Can´t think of any examples off-hand, but any band name that is likely to offend is a big mistake in my opinion. Dead Babies, Dead Kennedys; names like that are guaranteed to alienate some people, though, thinking about it, paradoxically they may attract quite an audience too.

Let's not forget Godspeed You! Black Emperor. There's no way whatever that might mean can be creative enough to make up for how absurd a name that is.
