Everything sells. Finding who to sell it to is the tricky part.

There are a lot of ****ty rom com films.
There are a lot of ****ty romantic novels.

There are exceptions, but a love story (at least, a bad one) is easy to write. It's been done, there's a blueprint that's easy to follow, and you are pretty much guaranteed to sell stuff.

because people like to write bullshit songs for the feeble-minded because they sell.

What annoys me is when they try to shove a romantic relationship in a movie that totallly didn't need it. They force two characters without any chemistry whatsoever into a relationship, and it's always very poorly done and unrealistic. It's like they think every movie HAS to have romance. If you're going to do it when it's totally unnecessary, at least do it well.

You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs.

Good one.

I think the best 'love songs' are the ones that tackle relationships in a more realistic and three-dimensional way, or otherwise, have some really fantastic lyrics. Dylan was always good at making love sound exciting and mysterious and fresh again.

Focus groups are the problem, among other things

Don't know about Dylan since I never listened to him, but I agree with the rest.
