Immortal Technique and Necro.

Hallelujah has always hit me pretty hard as well.

Intensity =/= heaviness.

I agree with you there, Pet Sounds. When one rots one's brain with too much metal, that's all one can think about.

GY!BE has given me many intense moments. White Suns was the first band to make my eardrums hurt and make me tear up due to pain that I actually enjoyed (it's some seriously intense ****). Swans always grabs me by the throat especially their early stuff.

But the Doors were not intense in any way. They're weren't even intense as far as their time period went.

Have you heard the full version of "The End"?

Yes. Sweet song. Not as intense as...

All without listing any metal.

I've got to give you kudos; I keep discovering you've got a lot more musical depth than appears at first glance.

The combination of Morrison's voice, Manzarek's organ, and Densmore's drums create an intensity unmatched among music I'm familiar with. However, there's a hell of a lot I haven't heard. I didn't listen to every song you linked, but I'll get back to you once I have.
