Hello everyone,

I need to know what is the name of this sound effect (or musical instrument) you can hear from 0:35 to 0:49 ?

Not really...To me, it sounds like a stacked analog (sawtooth/sawtooth and there could be another one or two with the same (or different) waveforms and/or possibly even a PCM sample - its hard to tell, but its meant to sound analog) but digitally processed ... It wouldnt surprise me if its a factory patch but I couldnt tell you which company or if its hardware(Korg, Ensoniq, Roland, Nord, etc), or if its a software VSTi (Native Instruments, Arturia, some-third-party, etc) or what they called the patch...Theres tons of patches like that one and just about every synthesizer has a factory patch in it's ballpark

The good news is that it sounds easy to recreate or, at the very least, get a close approximation to it if you have the programming and editing know-how with synthesizers. If youd like to recreate it, you need a digital synth with analog generators OR a VSTi with multiple analog generators, such as the reFX Vanguard or Nexus, and also have a little know-how of processing

Thanks for your answer! You seems to know what you're talking about, yes ! Unfortunetly it seems a little complicated for me and I don't have the know-how to reproduce it, I wanted to know the name of this effect if I can find any similar sound or samples.

You could get real close to that sound using CamelAudio's Alchemy (free), or SynthMaster 2.6 from kv331audio (not free).

...or grab VSTFree and dig around on the web for some similar plug-ins.

If you are using software that allows the use of VSTi software synthesizers, all you need to do is Google "Free VSTi plugins" in the search ( softsynths are referred to as VSTi while plugin fx are referred to an abridged VST, so you know the difference)....There are literally TONS out there....Here is a good place to start

VST 4 FREE - Free Audio Plug-ins Archives

You are looking for an analog VSTi with at least two oscillators and a bonus if it has a DSP built into the software)........

You can also look to SynthEdit's webpage: Synthedit is an IDE for developing software synths. There are a lot of people that use SynthEdit that post their creations or will supply links.

I have written two of my own VSTis in Java using a jVST Wrapper but my junk is crude :P but, if you code, hear ya go
http://jvstwrapper.sourceforge.net/

Basic rule with Free anything is simple: Theres a lot of crap to sift through before you find the diamond youre looking for

Good Luck
