Haha, too bad :P

Mr D00d pretty much made me appreciate Aesop and EL-P, despite having heard them before. Eternally grateful.

The D00dness converted me to the church of Aesop and DOOM when I was first sticking my feet in the hip hop waters.

Pete and Mojo have introduced me to a hell of a lot of metal over the years. I'll definitely say that.

And Conan introduced me to a lot of cool jazz and quirky music from around the word.

DwnWthVwls 03-09-2015 11:56 PM

200+ grabs in plug, each a band I've discovered here. TY MB.

That wasn't a cough dude. That was a subtle nod at Chula to give my ego a boost. Duh.

I'm really trying to think of bands that I got from here. I know I have, but I can't think of any besides the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (thanks, bob.) that I really kept listening to. I'm just lazy when it comes to taking other people's recs, I guess.

Montrose? I know you mentioned you dug them.

Oh yeah. Still, I never went back to them after the one time. I can't really say I discovered a band until I've at least listened to them on more than one occasion.

OK, those can officially be added to my list.

Starting to come around to hip-hop, thanks to a few people here. It's nice to have something completely different for the times when I get tired of psych, folk, prog, glam, and classical.

Black Francis 03-15-2015 01:46 PM

Whoa, i introduced you to the femmes? im oddly proud of that for some reason. :)

i discovered them when i lived in Wisconsin, they're a huge deal there..

You lived in Wisconsin?

Chula Vista 03-15-2015 01:51 PM

Bummed I didn't show up on Pet's list.

No love for Big Wreck?

All right, but nothing special.

This actually sounds interesting.

That was supposed to send you running for the hills. Huh. Well, as long as you're willing to abuse yourself...

Second album, and often considered their masterpiece.

Third album, and more accessible than their earlier stuff.

A live song off the third album, just in case you think "more accessible" means less terrifying. The vocalist puts on quite possibly the most intense anti-performance I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure he just whips himself into an emotionally and physically self-destructive frenzy. No way it's healthy.

Unknown Soldier 03-15-2015 04:55 PM

The Batlord has probably put the most my way in metal bands that I somehow never ever got around to listening to before or other metal bands that I kind of dismissed as not being that great, but on his comments have listened to again and realize just how good they really are.

Disappointing. Dig into them a bit more.

Let's see...one of the best was Swirlies, but I can't remember who was talking about them when I noticed.

I can't remember any others off the top of my head, but one recent I've enjoyed is La Femme.

Probably my favourite shoegaze band, I picked them up here as well. It was either Alex or Engine who was talking about them when I took notice.

Plugging with a drunk Batlord yesterday was interesting, but I'd like to mention three things in particular.

I've decided I don't need to hear any more grindcore. For a long time.
I discovered The Hives, and I'm enjoying them.
Batty promised me he'd listen to The Cars' debut album, saying, "If it's catchy as **** I'll probably love it."

What, no love for the psychedelic bagpipe explosion that I played?

That's right, I was in plug! I don't really remember much about yesterday. How much grindcore did I play anyway? I'm pretty sure I played the Hives.

And @ Oriphiel - Dude, take that **** out of your sig. It's supposed to be a surprise. The **** was I even talking about anyway?

You did play The Hives, and I'm now hooked on them. You also "****ing loved" The Cars when I played them, and promised me a Trollheart-esque track-by-track review of their debut.

I have absolutely no memory of this, but if I actually said that then it was clearly drunk talk, because that's not gonna happen.
