You're definitely at the wrong place then, man. Everyone here has an open mind to everything including threads like this. I like these type of threads because it lets people sort of mess around and get it out of their system.

How can you say I'm in the wrong place if I enjoy my time here? And no, not everyone here has an open mind. I've met a number of people here who have extremely narrow views on music.

Agreed. Real life can be boring and kinda suck a lot of the time. It's nice to have an alternate universe to hang out in.

I honestly have no idea who you're talking about then because everyone i've talked to during my time here has always been open to new things. I only mean the "wrong place" comment in the sense that you won't get much out of music discussion if you just stick to being close minded. Open mindedness allows for more music discussion.

Idk it's difficult for me to enjoy those endless daily update threads because they are so open ended and I personally have a somewhat narrow scope on music I actively enjoy. That's why I prefer like innerspaceboy's journal for example because I know if I go into it I'll find something I like because I have a huge hardon for ambient music. Going into the other threads, for all I know it could be a 10 page long classic rock circlejerk. I guess if you have super open ended tastes it's perfect but I don't so for me it's mehhhh.
Well then you might be interested on clicking the bottom link in my signature

Anyway I can see what you mean there, I've never really thought of it like that. Personally I look forward to checking "Albums You're Digging" every single day because I like a huge variety of music and there are several members here who have extremely similar tastes to mine. For instance I'd be willing to listen to damn near everything Ninetales ever posts. I don't necessarily get around to it but if I see him heavily endorse an album in there I'm getting it. idk I just view that thread as one of the main reasons to visit MusicBanter.

I'm not close minded. I like a lot of music. I love contemporary / neoclassical, new age / jazz piano, shoegaze, post-rock, alternative 90s rock, math rock, dance music, avant-garde music, ambient, drone, noise, experimental pop, synthpop, baroque pop, chamber pop, trip hop, hip hop, experimental / freak folk, post-hardcore, synth pop, dream pop, ethereal wave, alternative r&b, electronic soul, post-dubstep, post-punk, ambient pop, uhhhh neo psychedelia, downtempo, I love a lot of aspects of dance music and electropop, glitch, futurepop, chillwave, IDM... I can't think of any others but that's a lot of genres. I like a lot of music, I just don't really care for a lot of music too. I feel like it benefits me more to either let the people close to me recommend music or to go searching for it on my own, really. The only online community that really mirrors my taste in music in any capacity is /mu/, and even then, it is rather hit or miss.

yeah I feel similarly. I tend to pay attention more to specific people than overarching threads.

^Every time I have plugged with Chula, he's always open to listen to music that I think he'd like. He's never come off as close minded, or negative towards music.

Not everybody plugs. I don't, and therefore I can only go off of what I see on the forums, and what I see there is that Chula's into a very small handful of genres. Nothing wrong with that necessarily, that's just what I've gathered.

Really, cause I played a song and he was immediately like "This is bad" and then people were like "yeah, he's like that, he likes classic rock"

Interesting. I guess I've not really paid much attention to that. He's always seemed to be pretty open minded, but I suppose i've not really seen much discussion from him music wise on the forum itself for a while, so I could easily be misjudging.
