That's what I love about it, it's that one repeated groove that just keeps building every 10 seconds or so.

It's honestly not a super hard record to get into imo. His vocals are pretty busy and accessible, and the instruments really just repeat patterns most of the time.

Their early work is more like what you expected, it's incredibly abrasive. I'm glad you liked it though, I figured that you would because it's hard to hate such an incredible record but I've been surprised before. To answer your question, yes it is a species of drone, with post-rock being the overarching genre.
You do realise you're talking to a prog head, yes?
Also, thanks: I thought that might be some sort of drone all right.

Oddly enough, I didn't find any of it overstretched. Not even the 34-minute one.

I tried, but my aim is off and I ran out of ammo!

This is totally incorrect. it is one of the hardest albums to appreciate. Ever. Some of it is just talking and effects. I am NOT looking forward to revisiting this for "I know what I like"....

You won't regret it. If a pussy like me can like it, anyone can.

Then why do you break into tears when you come across a long song in this thread? Listen to the song, realize you hate it, then break into tears, don't just jump to the melodramatics.

Uh...you are referring to zero percent of the album with this comment.

Unless he means the 10 second long skits during a few of the songs then yeah I don't even know where he's talking about.

Still, the only effects used on the record is on the sleigh bells at the end of Hair Pie: Bake 2. You could technically call the cutting in The Dust Blows Forward 'N' the Dust Blows Back an effect and there's a little reverb on Well, but that's about it.

Exactly. In this thread, where I have so many albums to listen to, and try to get as many done as I can. An overly long track on an album with a lot of tracks makes that harder to accomplish. I don't have anything against long tracks, but when I'm trying to get through all the albums long tracks, double albums etc just make it harder for me.

As for TMR, well I remember talking but I certainly would not go up against you on the subject of your favourite album, so I'll see when I revisit it later.

It was the effects part that was wrong. There are bits of conversation here and there.
