Check out the new Slaves album if you get a chance. Punk has returned. These guys sound fresh though. |

Billy Woods is your man. His solo stuff fits the quota, as does his work in his hip hop duo Armand Hammer.

In punk, try:
Crass - Feeding of the 5000 Choking Victim - S/T Defiance, Ohio - Great Depression (some of the songs are) Hip hop: The Coup - Steal This Album Boots Riley, from The Coup, also randomly has a side project with Tom Morello called Street Sweeper Social Scene. It's decent but of everything I've heard from him Steal This Album is best. 5 Million Ways to Kill a CEO from the album Party Music is their "hit" song. Lastly, the song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" by Gil Scott Heron is absolutely badass. He calls out literally everyone that was fake protesting, etc. in the 1970s. One of my favorite revolutionary type songs. |
