He's actually taking pretty well to it so far it seems.

Yeah, they're definitely not as horrible as everyone thinks.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

Yeah, but 50 discs! At least break it up for those of us not in the least interested in Merzbow, and also for your own sanity!

I will, don't worry.

^He's actually already splitting it up.

Here's another rec to lighten the Merzload.

Terry Riley - Persian Surgery Dervishes

You might want to check that one out as well, TH. It's just organ, but there's a lot of multiplicity.

This album is awesome, but the crappy transitions between different sections of the songs really detracts from its value. However, beyond that, it's a well performed, and well produced album that deserves a spot on any experimental or metal fan's shelf. Some of the songs also feel a bit inspired by prog, so if you like bands like Opeth, I would definitely give this album a listen. It's brilliant.
OVERALL RATING: 9/10

I'm glad you liked that album for the most part. Here's another submission which I think manages to stay cohesive a bit better, though there are still a few mildly awkward transitions here and there they're not as common compared to that Self Spiller album. The album is Anthology II: Links from the Dead Trinity by Akphaezya. Here's the bandcamp page for the album.

Merzbow is actually a one-man project.

I'm referring to the discs, not Merzbow himself.

I figure I may as well update this while I have the time.

Album: Collection Era Vol. 1
Artist: Merzbow
Genre: Noise
Suggested by: grindy
Familiarity: Yes, I've heard the first three. Haven't heard anything else.

1. Electric Environment - This is a bit more abrasive than his other stuff. It's getting interesting. Oh, and I actually do like it. It's half pretty cool, and half really annoying it seems. Alright then. Get rid of the high-pitched droning and it would be good though.

2. Untitled Material Action - This one is like the first, except minus the annoying parts. It's not bad.

3. Telecom Manipulation - Like the last, but better put together. I like the fact that he's using more instrumentation.

Overall, this album isn't that bad. Using the method of putting it on in the background while I do other things works perfectly with this album. Also, the evolution of his sound is getting increasingly better over time. The first track's droning was a bit annoying, but it was mostly gone by the second, and totally gone by the last. As long as you're willing to sacrifice rhythm and even atmosphere, you can definitely enjoy this album.
OVERALL RATING: 8/10

By the way, @ grindy. Feel free to post anything else you want while I'm in the middle of the Merzbox. I'm making a conscious decision to do these on my own.
