Who doesn't get enough recognition on the forum?

Post about artists who don't get a lot of recognition on Music Forums.

I've been on music forums for years and I hav e never, ever, seen a mention of Eddie Money, and barely any for George Strait. I understand they had a LOT of hit singles, so it feels kind of weird.

Frownland 12-29-2015 12:30 PM

That's because we don't talk about the hits, we talk about the good ****.

You guys don't talk enough about Charlemagne Palestine or Edgard Varese.

Plankton 12-29-2015 12:38 PM

I see no Jaco Pastorius thread either... oh wait... yes there is.

MicShazam 12-29-2015 01:37 PM

Non Fiction.

A f***ing awesome groove metal band that never gets mentioned anywhere at all. Think Life of Agony except 10 times better with ease. In the Know is their best album out of the 3 they made, but all are worth checking out (according to me at least).

Norg 12-29-2015 01:44 PM

Korn and Slipknot

Black Francis 12-29-2015 01:50 PM

Deerhoof, Frank Black, Kas product.

There's a Deerhoof thread here but it is pretty old and never caught on and aside from that i don't recall anyone ever mentioning them. the closest ive seen someone talk about them has been Frown & Pedestrian who didn't mention them but acknowledged them after i mentioned them.

Frank black's career outside of the pixies to my recollection has never been mentioned here. ppl know his work with the pixies and most of them like them. (Except Neapolitan, he's just too cool for them) but i honestly never seen someone talk about his later albums.

Kas product also don't get enough recognition in this forum, I think ive seen them be mentioned a couple of times but that's about it. keep in mind i haven't searched every thread and every journal on mb im just going from what i've seen.

Not sure if trolling

I guess that implies an elitist attitude since I can't imagine people who know anything about music would like Slipknot or Korn. And then again, Korn had a couple allright songs. I love how the bass in 'Here to Stay' and 'Thoughtless' is ridiculously heavy. The vocals were pretty catchy too. If you'd said Slipknot and Limp Bizkit instead, I would be 100% sure you were trolling, but now I'm not entirely certain.

Slipknot did debut as basically a Mr. bungle ripoff. A good one at that, but they slowly descended into their current state when Corey Taylor joined. I actually dig some of Korn's stuff too.

Huh? Are there any recordings available from their bunglish phase?

Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat. demo album. Highly suggest listening to it.

I know it. Been a huge fan as a teen.
Not seeing similarities to Mr. Bungle. I mean, yeah, the metal part is there, but nothing that really made Mr. Bungle Mr. Bungle.

EDIT: Listened in for a second and found some bunglish parts. Never noticed it, but then again I discovered Slipknot way earlier than MB.

Tristan_Geoff 12-29-2015 05:47 PM

It's definitely a step up from their later material.

Tristan_Geoff 01-01-2016 03:03 PM

I don't see hardly enough indie rock on here. Roxy can back me up on this.

Latin American artists really don't get recognition around here at all. Any post about Latin music, especially modern Latin music, quickly sinks into obscurity.

grindy 01-08-2016 09:19 AM

How come Psychotic Waltz hardly get mentioned here?
I don't even really like prog metal, but "Into The Everflow" is such an incredible, majestic masterpiece. "A Social Grace" is pretty damn cool as well, although not on the same level.

That's interesting. I listen to artists from a lot of countries but I have noticed that I don't really tend to like stuff from spanish speaking countries or latin america in general. I've checked out artists from time to time, but never found anything I like. Unless Esperanza Spalding counts, I like zero-zip-nada from that cultural background. Don't know why.

Brown skin is out of style these days.

You should lay off Facebook for a while.

I wouldn't really count Esperanza Spalding, though its not like a thread about her would exactly take off here either.

Neapolitan 01-09-2016 10:39 PM

I don't think Janszoon gets enough recognition on the forum.

There's way more conversation about hip hop here than Latin music.

Jazz doesn't get enough recognition not only in this forum but by music nerds/fans in general. And for me, Jazz is far more interesting than rawk and hiphop music. I'm not even going to mention classical music (but it's also a genre I haven't explored much).

Which jazz? We talking John Coltrane or Pat Metheny?

John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, George Russell, Charles Mingus, Albert Ayler, Charlie Haden, etc. etc. and many others. The Jazz top albums beat the rock top albums by a wide margin IMO.

The best apples beat the best rocks by a wide margin.

Don't be simplistic around here. You will not last long.

OK I read this and it kinda bothered me. Like who is better? The Apples or The Rocks? You really got me thinking on that one. After some consideration I see your point The Apples have a slight edge over The Rocks.

The Apples - Fly On It

The Rocks 'Heartbreak City'

One of my favorite sub genres, Neue Deutsche Harte, is almost never talked about. Outside of a few posts about Rammstein, it's virtually non-existent here.

David Sylvian. One of the 80s greats.

And Mark Hollis. He's just a genius.
