I wasn't necessarily saying he'd called it Blackstar for that reason, only that those lyrics, which didn't really make sense prior, suddenly have their meaning illuminated when you apply the perspective of death/cancer.

Pretty sure he wasn't being sarcastic.

Actually, if you go down the Wiki article, to "History", it does kinda make it explicit. I'm assuming that what's your original point was anyway.

I wasn't being sarcastic in the least. It also states down below that there was a connection between the babylonian constellation and ideas of death and passage. What could be cooler then Bowie throwing one more mind **** our way.

^If that's an intentionall hint that'd be genius.
Although Bowie's lyrics and titles were always so cryptic, that you could interpret them pretty much any way you'd want.

Seen it suggested online it could be a reference to an Elvis Presley song called Black Star.

Quote:
Every man has a black star
A black star over his shoulder
And when a man sees his black star
He knows his time, his time has come

Knowing Bowie career and utter brilliance I'd say it's no coincidence.

Remember he long ago sand this:

Didn't know what time it was and the lights were low
I leaned back on my radio
Some cat was layin' down some rock 'n' roll 'lotta soul, he said
Then the loud sound did seem to fade
Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase
That weren't no D.J. that was hazy cosmic jive
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone so I picked on you
Hey, that's far out so you heard him too!
Switch on the TV we may pick him up on channel two
Look out your window I can see his light
