Astronaut Tim Peake, who is aboard the International Space Station:

"Saddened to hear David Bowie has lost his battle with cancer - his music was an inspiration to many."

This overwhelmed me because in my head Ive always picutred the pillars of creation being as close to a solid tangible idea of what heaven must be like. While loosely Christian, I fully entertain a lot of jumbled ideas and have sorta strung them together into a roxysoild theory. In short I believe in bardo, and if you know about bardo it takes "8" days (earth days) to make it through and monks chant to help you through...and so on.So that being said as I said to Martin earlier its few and far between when a soul can connect folks all over the earth, but Bowie made it to the cosmos. And its only right to send the star man through "his" bardo with the sounds of his fans singing and the sounds of his beautiful vibrations through space....I think that was probably one of the most overwhelming things Ive ever read.I had an incredibly beautiful exsperience when I read it and well hit the bong 3 times for good measure and welp* cough ....here we are ground control....</3...

"If this were too be the last Bowie record... what a send off... Thats all I can say..."

The final words of my review for Blackstar. How sad it is to think that this statement reads true. I never once during the many times I have listened to Blackstar did I realize what the main message of this album really was. The most artistic goodbye. I relish every moment I spent listening to his work. I appreciate his contributions to art, film, and especially music. David Bowie was an anchor for me in my valiant attempt at getting into art rock in general. I have been listening to Bowie since the first grade. I may not have known him personally but I feel like I got as close as I could. You will be missed David, rest in peace.

I can't stop crying over this. The guy and his music has just always "been" there. I first heard him at 10 with Space Oddity. He consistently blew me away for the next 30 years.

Posted this elsewhere recently, but watching the Live Aid event overwhelm him emotionally on that day was mind blowing.

Probably my favourite Bowie moment, and it seems rather fitting to post it now.

Coolest photo ever.

I don't know if it's the lighting, drugs, or that's just the way his eyes look, but one of the pupils is bigger than the other and he looks crazy as hell.

One of his pupils was paralyzed during a fight when he was a teenager.
It's actually very well known and has been one of his trademarks.
A lot of people falsely assume that he had differently coloured eyes though.

That's pretty rock'n'roll. Even Lemmy had two working eyes.
