Listened to "The Best of Bowie" three part series (69/74, 74/79 and 80/87) and my god, that middle section is amazing.

yep, one of the better documentaries out there. I still think the best one is the Sound & Vision doc, that's really well done and informative. It always annoyed me when the BBC would announce these Bowie nights and every time they'd only focus on the Ziggy era with very little outside of that period. Often it was the same documentary as well.

Cracked Actor is good too.

Great avy goofie.

Here's a quote from Bowie i got from a documentary.

"As artists we tend to think our opinion is more important than other people's opinion. Often we feel as if we have a key to something... i don't think we do at all, i just think we dwell on it more. We tend to look at the world as some usable substance more than a non-artist would."

Gonna write up a full analysis of Blackstar within the context of Bowie's death, but here's something from the title track that struck me:

In this section, it's as if the cancer/death is actually addressing Bowie (Edit, may also be God?),

"I can’t answer why (I’m a Blackstar)
Just go with me (I’m not a Film star)
I’m-a take you home (I’m a Blackstar)
Take your passport and shoes (I’m not a Pop star)
And your sedatives, boo (I’m a Blackstar)
You’re a flash in the pan (I’m not a Marvel star)
I’m the great I am (I’m a Blackstar)"

I definitely recall him saying he wasn't releasing any new stuff again.
It's possible, but he also said he'd never perform the hits in concert again after the Sound + Vision tour and ended up reviving most of them.

Playing Blackstar to rerate. What an opener. What a haunting album.
