Blackstar (2016)

Vote one off till the end of next week or so.
I go with Low once again.

Ziggy, it's a good album, but I think it's slightly overrated and I don't like that it's pretty much the first and only thing people know he's done, and whenever there are documentaries on telly about him, they only ever focus on the Ziggy era which has always annoyed me.

ZIGGY.

Frownland 07-02-2016 01:48 PM

Ziggy Stardust

Zhanteimi 07-02-2016 04:12 PM

Low.

Tristan_Geoff 07-02-2016 05:36 PM

Ziggy

Haven't really been participating because I didn't want to trap myself into the commitment of listening to all the albums but I've heard at least these 4.

JGuy Grungeman 07-02-2016 07:28 PM

I'll be extremely disappointed if Ziggy gets off this early.

Low.

Floydy 07-03-2016 04:36 AM

Hunky Dory.

Plainview 07-03-2016 05:26 PM

Ziggy.

grindy 07-04-2016 10:20 AM

Once again we need a tiebreaker.

Tristan_Geoff 07-04-2016 10:28 AM

(Ziggy)

Cuthbert 07-04-2016 11:23 AM

Ziggy has gone.

grindy 07-04-2016 11:26 AM

Nice try, friendo.

TechnicLePanther 07-04-2016 02:08 PM

Can I change my vote to Low then? My original vote was for Hunky Dory, but it seems no one's interested in that ATM.

Hell yeah. Also Hunky Dory is amazing.
Originaly I haven't even voted for it to win in its era's battle, but since then it's become one of my absolute favourites.

JGuy Grungeman 07-04-2016 03:21 PM

To be honest, I would've found Low being over Ziggy completely out of whack. Low's too short, but Ziggy's Bowie's only truly perfect album. Don't get me wrong, a lot of his other stuff is amazing. Aladdin Sane, Hunky Dory, Blackstar, but ever since I first heard it, Ziggy's been the real winner.

Kedvesem 07-04-2016 03:26 PM

Low.

No one votes off Ziggy on my watch!

RiPS 07-04-2016 03:32 PM

Low.

Cuthbert 07-04-2016 05:11 PM

Low and Station to Station are perfect albums for me.

Heroes would have been as well if Secret Life of Arabia wasn't on it. Ruins the flow of the second side of the album and would have been better on Lodger cos of the world theme on it.

Can't find a fault with Aladdin Sane either tbh. Hunky Dory and Scary Monsters are close as well.

Hunky Dory would be perfect, if it weren't for Kooks.

Cuthbert 07-05-2016 01:59 AM

Replace it with Bombers.

What's wrong with "Kooks"?

It's not bad and I actually kinda like it, but it's just not on the same high level as the other songs there.

Floydy 07-05-2016 08:51 AM

I'm a little lost now. I see Ziggy has gone, so that means Low, Blackstar and Hunky Dory are left, right? Is this the current round? If so I'm voting off Hunky Dory (btw I love Kooks).

Actually Low has the most votes. The next round hasn't started yet though.

Thanks Grindy. Please ignore my 'Hunky Dory' nomination. I'll re-submit it when the next round is underway. All tremendously important stuff this you know...;)

Life and death :D

Tristan_Geoff 07-05-2016 09:30 AM

Hunky Dory is the obvious winner.

Plainview 07-05-2016 05:43 PM

Team Blackstar reporting in.

I also keep forgetting he's dead and am then reminded again because there's a painting of him in my town centre. Sad stuff.

TechnicLePanther 07-06-2016 06:50 AM

Can we bring back Station to Station? Because I would 100% take it over any of these albums.

haha yeah I saw that, I was in tears at the time over all the Pat Sharp stuff. It really does look like Pat Sharp. Feel a bit for the guy who painted it.

I haven't gone to see the one I posted, I keep meaning to. Not even sure if it's still there any more.

grindy 07-06-2016 11:38 AM

It seems pretty much everyone's votes are in, so how about we kick off the next round.
Low is gone.

Hunky Dory (1971)
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972)
Blackstar (2016)

It really pains me to do this, but I'm voting off Blackstar. It's an amazing album and it stirs incredibly strong emotions inside me, but overall the songs are a just little bit weaker than the ones on Ziggy and Hunky Dory.

Frownland 07-06-2016 11:39 AM

I'm gonna throw a tantrum if I don't get my way this round.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Record it and put it on your next album.

JGuy Grungeman 07-06-2016 11:49 AM

I think Ziggy will get off this time. Blackstar's my vote. The remaining three are grand albums, but Blackstar's the worst of the three.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 07-06-2016 11:59 AM

Ziggggggy

Cuthbert 07-06-2016 01:28 PM

His two best albums have gone :D
