I guess an analogy to that analogy would be going to a Todd Rundgren and instead of playing his songs in the same style that they were recorded in he reinterprets them in techno fashion. You're getting the basic idea of the song, but in a style you might not like. You might not like the analogy he's applying but the basic idea is there. To justify it, let's go back to what Frownland said and apply it to the analogy:
