Ideas For Grad Song

So ever since I first entered high school, I've been determined to avoid being part of a grad class that gets stuck with either Nickleback or some shitty pop country song as our grad song. With that being said, I'm having an incredibly difficult time looking for a song that

A) has some overlying theme of growing up, moving on, graduating, idk some sort of connection.

B) can be enjoyed by the majority of people.

C) isn't the same mainstream pop/country pop that most of my grad class listens to.

So, you know, any help in finding a suitable song would be appreciated plz.

My band cloudcover wrote an entire album (called Memento...it will forever be an extremely emotional album for me) about this back when we graduated high school in 2012.

The title track of our album Memento is a pretty solid one if you ask me

The faculty might not be thrilled about the title, but **** schools...

Oh, and...

What's your non-realistic answer?

You wanted some more good music?

I mean, it's essentially the musical equivelent to a really fucked up horror movie so it was cool, I'll give you that.

Yeah so I went with this and it ended up winning. Our other choices were See You Again by Wiz Khalifa or a handful of generic interchangeable country songs so I had a good feeling about it.

If you want to impress in a bad way:

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Dope - Thanks for Nothing

or else:

Did someone already mention

'Queen - We are the Champions'
'Queen - Don't stop me now'

Last one is my fav ...

bob_32_116 05-05-2016 12:58 PM

I would have chosen "No Such Thing" by John Mayer.

Zhanteimi 05-05-2016 03:22 PM

Taylor Swift's "Welcome to New York"

Tristan_Geoff 05-05-2016 03:37 PM

Congratulations on graduating! I'm in the process of doing the same, but our ****ty student government is probably gonna pick the soundtrack.

Zhanteimi 05-05-2016 05:13 PM

My high-school graduating class chose Boyz II Men's "End of the Road" as our theme song.

Thanks man, same to you! I feel you on the student government, fortunately our song went to a vote with the whole grad class getting a say and one of my friends' stuffed the ballot box with like 8 votes for Don't You Forget About Me.

Frownland 05-05-2016 05:45 PM

I'm not even sure if we had a graduation song at my graduation. Do they play it when you all walk out or something?

Yeah. They also use it for our grad video, which is basically a collection of embarrassing childhood photos, and we all sing the song together as a class at the variety show or something of the sorts.

Frownland 05-05-2016 05:49 PM

I'm so sorry.

That's pretty much the worst thing I've ever read.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 05-05-2016 05:59 PM

Trust me, it's much worse in person.

I suppose, but our's is much more tame than what the other members have talked about. We did a "grad lockdown" a few months ago, which was alright I guess, we just spent a night at the school and hung out. Next weekend we have a weekend long camping trip which should actually be pretty decent, so I am excited for that.

Still better than anything in the American bible belt.

At least at your cousin's house party you have an opportunity to get laid.
