I must be Canadian too because I mentioned Kraftwerk in my post too.

No one can dispute that Pet_Sounds' suggestion is the best fit of all. After that, you should work through the short discography of Neu! and then the rather larger discography of Tangerine Dream. That would probably be enough music to take you clean across Europe, Russia and China too.

If you need a break from all that electronica, I recommend Golden Earring (who are on Plankton's link to 50 Best Road Songs) and R.Dean Taylor who isn't :-

techno/trance or dubstep ... and when you're in the fast lane it's more like drum and bass.

Not to get all schoolmarm on you, but, for your safety, don't drive like a typical American
on the autobahn. PLEASE, do at least a little research on driving in Germany before you go.
There are things that you need to know that could save your life and/or keep you from
getting ticketed. I can give you 4 examples of stuff to know if you're interested.

Musically: Yes, Berlin-school type music could be fun to listen to on the roadways -
especially off the highway through various villages, but that's just a preference of mine.
To me, it's not so frenetic that you lose your driving sense, but not so narcotic that you fall asleep.
Here's a free comp of recent work if you're inclined.
It really depends on ones car.
In a good car and on a good road you hardly feel the speed at all and it's not particularly drum'n'bassy.

How does a typical American drive on the autbahn?

Slowly, I imagine. The fastest roads in America are 85 mph/137 kph, and where I live I don't think there's anything over 65 mph/105 kph.

Like Mario Andretti.

We rented a BMW 535i to go to Amsterdam from Frankfort about 30 years ago. 100k in the populated area's, and we got it up to around 200k when the limit dropped off in the rural area's. Just don't stick in the left lane like some idiots do here in the states. You'll end up in the grill of some one's Lambo. You see those brights flash, get the **** outa the way.

Yeah, no we don't. You can still get killed very easily trying to pull onto a road with cars going 75 mph.

We're cool like that.

Yeah, **** the bicycle hate.

We have a word for those people in America: "*******s".

Yeah, we don't do that unless we're on an extended road trip and there are no places to stop for miles ('Murica is a big ****ing country, after all).

Are you saying that people don't run out of gas on the highway?

???
No more than people from any other country, I imagine. Our education system might suck, but I don't think you need to understand calculus to remember to get gas.
