I wasn't the one who said that. Duh.

And it could be that you aren't, and you admitted it, a genre expert because you trust Wikipedia. Not calling myself an expert either, but even I know better than to trust wikipedia with genre-labelling.

I said that I trust them over you, not that I trust them explicitly.

You do that implicitly almost constantly. I know you don't think you do, but you totally do. One can't "brag" about the exact number of albums in a genre they've listened to without implicitly calling themselves an expert.

Uuuh, yeah they can. You're the one who takes it that way. Bragging about expertise and bragging about hearing more than you aren't always the same thing. And you know every attempt at describing a genre I've made on this forum MB has been winging it. You also know I never claimed to know more about genres than everyone else, and you also know I've mentioned subjectivity in genres because the sound of a genre is usually COMPLETELY PERSONAL. What expertise is there in personal opinion? Or do you block out every time I say "For me, ----- is..." These are points I've made dozens of times in the last several weeks. If you misinteroret it as pretentiousness or self-righteousness, that's you and your opinion's problem. This goes for everyone who has gotten the wrong idea.

Bottom line is, don't call me an expert at genres or say I'm calling myself one. I only discuss them because they are an engaging topic for me. Hell, that's why I started th8s thread in the first place. And subjectivity is also why I've generally been against the idea of a criteria for the genres on this game.

And yet you never change your opinion at any point ever ever ever, regardless of how many people come and point out how you're being ridiculous.

To be honest, I've seen you post ridiculous things as well. And a forum is practically built for arguing, not for trusting each other's opinion on something so broad as music.
And you're exaggerations once again block you from the truth. There have been times I've been open to what some people had to say. That doesn't meqn I have to agree. I don't know how many times I've said this: GENRES ARE SUBJECTIVE. The sound is defined solely by the listener, and the listener can't define the sound for others, hwnce the many times I've stated "for me," as in my opinion of a genre. Sure, I'll argue on some things like whether or not a genre is purely defined by location like some grunge fans claim, but discussing genres is a favorite topic of mine. It's things like comparing a broad genre to an elephant that is ridiculous.

But if I am indeed wrong about art punk not having a definite sound due to its broadness... I'll be open to you and see. That doesn't mean I'll change my opinion, but I'll listen. Tell me what art punk is. And don't say something like "not Clash" or "not London Calling." I want to know what art punk is in terms of sound, or culture, or scene, etc. Tell me the facts of what art punk is.

Tl;dr you can try shouting at the brick wall if you want but it's not a brick wall because it thinks it's a tapestry.

And THAT'S probably why you tend to read my posts incorrectly.

Genres are somewhat subjective but they're more objective than subjective. The entire basis of your defensive rant is invalid.
