Get this. Avant-Folk is a m,ore popular tag on RYM, having over 1000 a;lbums while freak folk has about 400. But Avant-Folk doesn't even have a genre description. So, yeah.

I'm not to familiar with the differences since the only real freak folk I'm familiar with is Exuma and Who's Masquerade (possibly).
