How do leaks happen?

I understand in general, it happens when some professional who has early access to music uploads it to the web. But have you heard about the cases of investigations revealing who did it and what their motivation was?

I began to wonder about it after the album I was looking forward to (Noisia - Outer Edges) leaked last week and the artists decided to release it 1,5 month earlier than they had planned.

sometimes there can be cracks in the wood, or sometimes holes. When it rains, the rain can travel through those holes or cracks. It's an easy fix if you have the right tools.

Usually anonymous people who have ties to the artist nab a copy and upload it to datpiff or piratebay.

It's really an endless series of thing that can cause it. Hackers, angry employees, simple mistakes, and so on. I remember the first single off the last machine head album got leaked. And I think it was that the uk people for the label posted the song on iTunes sooner then they were suppose to.
