Default Ki Reviews Nightwish (In Its Entirety)

Batlord isn't the only one allowed to have fun around here. While I still don't understand how him actively listening to music I like is a bad thing, I'll let him continue to do so and kiss the ground I walk on.

While he does that, I'm going to not stoop to his level and combat him, but instead do something that'll hurt him deep inside, and that is reviewing every Nightwish album ever made.

During this time, I will also be making relatively short reviews to not drag things on. They'll be short and sweet and full of praise.

I expect hate and flame wars to ensue, but I expect people to not stoop to such levels.

Being possibly the only member here that likes Nightwish and has been reminded of this multiple times on many platforms, I feel it's my duty to follow through with that and review albums.

So, here's a list of what i'll be reviewing:
Angels Fall First (1997)
Oceanborn (1998)
Wishmaster (2000)
Century Child (2002)
Once (2004)
Dark Passion Play (2007)
Imaginaerum (2011)
Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015)

Nightwish - Dark Passion Play (2007)

Given the nature of this album, a lot of people wrote it off right away without hesitation. I was within that group of people because I didn't like how Tarja was no longer going to be a part of the equation. However, as time went on, I grew up and finally listened to the album. As much as I'm not a big fan of Annette, she holds herself very well throughout this album, and while it's not the best thing from the Annette era, it's a great attempt to rebuild the band after losing the prime figure for their sound. The lack of opera-esque vocals brings this album down a few notches, but that's to be expected.

What does that name even mean? Nightwish. Like, when you're all depressed at night and you wish you had the courage to kill yourself? Follow up on that, Ki.

I know that bands are grammatically supposed to be the same as a corporation (a multitude of people classified as a single entity) but it still feels weird at times to refer to such a small number of people in the singular.

It's a group. You refer to the group.

I know that, and I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but I know there have been many times in the past where it just felt grammatically awkward to refer to a band in the singular rather than the plural. It almost feels like a random grab bag of when you should and should not refer to a band as "them" rather than "it".

Plural names like The Beatles I can see where you're coming from. Override it for the sake of grammar.

The Beatles is quality.
