To me, her discography is pretty varied, but as with any band, that might seem different from the outside than from the inside, so to speak.

One of her best albums as I see it, Night of Hunters, is definitely something different than the one you heard (Pretty sure it was Abnormally Attracted to Sin that you heard, since I believe I was the one who made you listen to it back in the day... I could be wrong about that.)

Tyler, the Creator - Scum **** Flower Boy (July 21)

apparently already leaked even though it's not due out for awhile, but I'm excited

It's out!

Goofle 07-21-2017 06:54 AM

And he fancies Clancy. Obviously.

Or should I say He's Out? Potholes sounds like De La Soul

OccultHawk 07-21-2017 07:43 AM

I'm not completely sure what to think after one listen.

Tyler grows up?

Besides a few good songs here and there I always thought maturing was the worst thing that ever happened to the Beasties. Licensed to Ill is by far their best, imo. I love Daydream Nation but that move toward the mainstream was hard for Sonic Youth to recover from. Not commercially, but artistically. Maybe this is Daydream Nation, Paul's Boutique, or if I understand it correctly, the Stereogum review seems to be comparing it to Pet Sounds! I don't know yet. I'm excited about it though.

i was pumped for the new logic album but that was a let down for me

It was, yes. Maybe I'll try that one you suggested above.
Maybe not.

im not sure how i feel either, but it seems like this is the music he wants to be making. the stuff he was putting out early did seem to be a little force, but i really thought with Wolf he was moving into a strong direction. liked this a lot more than Cherry Bomb though regardless.

You probably don't stand to win much by even trying, but listening to the first track on the album should pretty much tell you what to expect. No need to listen to the rest if it doesn't do anything for you.

New drone music by Laraaji

Quote:

Recorded with engineer Davey Jewell at Gary's Electric Studio in Brooklyn during August 2016, Laraaji produced nine hours of extended jams, which were then edited and mixed by Carlos Niño of Leaving.

The two releases are Sun Gong, comprised of two drone works exploring processed gong, and the double LP Bring On The Sun. Both will also be available in double disc format.
Dude is too cool

Apparently Grizzly Bear were selling their new album at a show tonight.

Internet, plz.

I literally just found out this was coming at all minutes ago. Much hype.

Shields was a letdown after their first two stellar albums, but this band is pretty solid. I wonder how the last 5 years went for them...

I'm going to guess they became even more of hipster poster childs. I'm reserving excitement. Yellow House is one of my favorite albums of all time but I was disappointed with Veck even though some songs were great and Shields was just awful.

If you want to catch their single, Search: "Sons of Apollo" on youtube and it is the first video uploaded by InsideOutMusic.

Let me know what you think!

I checked and only Mike Portnoy has any connection with Dream Theater that I know of. I was so hoping that I could make a joke about DT spamming our site cause nobody else cares, but not so much.

Shernihan was their keyboard player from 1994-1999. Not that anyone cares. I did think Sheehan was with them, but apparently not. I'm not a big DT fan anyway; just pointing out that these are all established musicians (Sheehan worked with Mr Big and DLR to name two, Jeff Soto is Jeff Scott Soto and he's a big name in AOR. Has worked with Yngwie and Axel Rudi Pell as well as TSO, and Ron Thal was with Guns n Roses), so not some kid trying to spam us to listen to his band.

Enslaved - E

Quote:

We are more than happy to announce the release of our epic new studio album for October 13th, 2017! This 14th full-length album sets our music free from genre boundaries and offers an unprecedented mix of prog, extreme metal and shoegaze on 8 tracks with a playing time of more than an hour. Titled »E«, the album was once again written by the unholy alliance of Ivar Bjørnson (music, lyrics) and Grutle Kjellson (lyrics) and marks the introduction of our new keyboard master and clean vocalist Håkon Vinje.
Interesting that the previous keyboardist/clean vocalist Ivar Bjørnson seems to have been replaced - I thought his vocals on 2015's In Times were great. I'd even go so far as to say In Times is my 5th favourite Enslaved album, so I've got high hopes for this one.

Edit - I'm an idiot and didn't even read the quote I put up - looks like Ivar is still part of the band.

I just heard the new song off the album "Storm Son" and it is... interesting. This album definitely signifies a bit of a genre shift, leaning more towards their progressive rock influences. It's not necessarily a bad thing, they've kind of been riding the wave started with their 2010 album Axioma Ethica Odini, but their two follow-ups since that haven't topped it.

I just hope they don't go full Opeth from here on out and make mediocre prog albums.

Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold (September 15)

Prophets of Rage - Prophets of Rage (September 15)

Rage against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cyrpus Hill supergroup. I'm all in for that.

You heard what they've released so far? It's the most uninspired combination of them that they could muster.

No then I went and looked it up based off of you saying that and I wish I would have went into it cold turkey. I'm still going to listen to the full album when it gets released but it is a bit underwhelming. I did like unfuck the world though. I have a feeling that the full album will be hit or miss.

Frownland 08-24-2017 11:34 AM

It's like Chuck D, DJ Lord, and B Real decided to make a RATM cover band but thought that Zach De La Rocha was too whack to imitate.

I was thinking the same thing. What are your favourite Enslaved albums? My top 5:
Below the Lights > Mardraum > Isa > Axioma > In Times
For me Below the Lights and Mardraum are the best by far, all the others I change my opinion about from time to time.

Pretty similar to yours, just move Axioma up one, and Isa down one and replace it with Ruun.

Below the Lights is an incredibly album, and you can really see the band's shift from their more typical black metal/viking roots towards more psychedelic leanings on Mardraum.

LCD SS's new record is literally 6 days away. Literally.

Justthefacts 08-28-2017 05:30 PM

So far, on Metacritic, LCD's new record holds a 92% rating based on 5 critics. People are loving it, I'm gonna love it, you're gonna love it, everyone's gonna fucking love it.

Quite happy about the new John Carpenter Anthology LP + digital download coming out this October. All the themes to the movies he produced between 1974 and 1998 on one album.

Here's the official site.

I think I just came to the conclusion that if John Carpenter was playing near my area, I'd probably see him.

sad....

No mention of Quicksand

November 10th

and no mention of Unsane

September 29th

Frownland 08-31-2017 06:42 AM

I'm waiting to hear that Unsane track for when I hear the album in full.

Trollheart 09-01-2017 01:54 PM

Does every Unsane track have blood and/or bodies in it? I'm just askin' here.

They are obviously on the bleeding edge of hardness. So insane they are unsane.
