Christmas Music...is it a thing?

Kedvesem 11-29-2016 01:35 AM

Hmm. I love Christmas music, probably more than you do, Sir.

I greatly enjoy Sting's On a Winter's Night.

And this one. It is just the best.

Yeah, that's about it, aside from the ones you already posted.

If I had one favourite not-particularly-special-non-religious-no-reason-to-celebrate-twenty-fifth-of-Dcember-winter-holiday song, it would be this:

I don't care who sings it, I love this song. Emperor or Darkthrone could do a version and I'd listen to it. :)

Janszoon 11-29-2016 06:54 AM

Yes, it's a thing in my life—it's unavoidable this time of year. I worked retail when I was younger so I get sick of it really fast. I wish it was only played on Christmas Eve.

I don't really have favorites anymore because I've heard them all so many times, but I do sort of like Elvis' "Blue Christmas" because it's fun to sing along to.

Get hung for the holidays...

Plankton 11-29-2016 09:43 AM

It's a yellow and black Christmas. Yellow because of all the cheese, and black like my soul.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 11-29-2016 09:55 AM

Sufjan Stevens, as you mentioned, has some great holiday tunes.

Of course the best of all is the soundtrack to The Nightmare Before Christmas. I've watched this so much that I can sing about 3/4th of the songs off the top of my head.

Frownland 11-29-2016 10:01 AM

I only like the music from the Halloween part of the film, the Christmas songs in it are boisterous and annoying.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 11-29-2016 10:03 AM

top notch

Psy-Fi 11-29-2016 10:16 AM

One of my annual Christmas favorites...

I'm a pretty serious Christmas junkie, and sometimes even listen to Christmas music in the middle of the summer!

I like a variety of Christmas music but my favorites tend to be traditional Christmas carols.

Neapolitan 11-29-2016 08:44 PM

My Top 5 Christmas albums. I grew up listening to them every year and never tired of them. The season wouldn't be the same without listening to them.
  • Elvis - Elvis' Christmas Album (1957)
  • The Beach Boys - The Beach Boys' Christmas Album (1964)
  • The Ventures - The Ventures' Christmas Album (1965)
  • Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
  • Paul Revere and the Raiders (feat. Mark Lindsay) - A Christmas Present ... and Past (1967)

I also listen to Elvis around Chrismas (which is the only time of the year that I ever find myself interested in his music, tbh.) Like Nea, I also listen to Charlie Brown Christmas album a good bit.

The second is obviously a spoof of Frosty The Snowman

Every time I hear that Grinch song it makes me laugh because, like, what the **** did the Grinch do to piss that guy off? People don't just make songs like that because of the dudes reputation, the Grinch must of been ****ting in his cheerios or he walked in on the Grinch ****ing his girl or something. It's one of the most hardcore diss songs out there. **** Ether.
