All you whiners who can't handle quantitative analysis need to back off and let TH call the shots. He's the only reason this thing is still going.

Anyway, what I dropped in to say is that you should probably remove me from the queue, TH. My desire to explore new music is pretty much dead, and I don't feel it's fair that I get to choose an album while not participating regularly.

That said, is there provision for a member to participate part-time? I would like to discuss albums by artists I'm familiar with, if others choose them. Apologies if that question's already been covered—I was away from MB for a few weeks and missed a lot.

I'm the star pupil. I have an A+. Trollheart is putting me in charge of public relations. You may pick one record every third rotation.

Thanks man, and yes you can review or comment as you like, but I will remove you from the queue if you don't want to choose an album, no problem.

New list, bitches!
This takes into account any comments or discussion initiated by or participated in by anyone still remaining in the club. As you can see, there are some slight changes, the most significant of which - and I'm sure he'll be jumping up and down about it - is that Frown moves up the queue.

The OP will be updated soon, so if you have any questions, ask them now.

I demand to be moved up in the list such that I am consistently one ahead of Frown, purely for the purpose of spiting him. Also here's my next album:

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Flying Microtonal Banana

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

You request is denied, based on the fact that I have instituted a fascist regime here and any dissenters will be, ah, relocated....

Sufjan Stevens - Seven Swans

This feels like a high quality release and has a coherent vibe that's probably perfect for the right moment. For my taste I prefer my folksy singer-songwriter stuff to have a bit more harmonic movement - although I realise that's not what Sufjan is going for here. This was the first album of his I'd heard apart form Carrie and Lowell - I'm intrigued enough to want to explore further, however for folk I'll always go back to Silvio Rodriguez (or Shugo Tokumaru whom I discovered through Mord's journal).
7/10

Based on this information we can see that the ones who have contributed most to the thread, or at least,
most consistently, are OccultHawk, Innerspaceboy, Anteater and Aloysius, with Electrophonic Tonic and Psy-Fi up next. Rjinn, 1blankmind, Technic and The Matrix all get a pass, as they joined later, but you can see how though interest was pretty constant for the first few weeks it quickly faded away. Some people kept going though (I'm obviously not on it, as I know I reviewed every album anyway) and those people will be rewarded by being moved to the top of the list for round two.

Edit: actually, looking deeper at the data, our latecomers have not all performed well. Rjinn has only reviewed one album since joining, missing out on four, while 1blankmind has missed five consecutive albums since he joined, though he does well on either side of those (two since joining, two after the five-week gap).
Apologies, I tend to leave my computer on regardless of being absent for long periods of time and I've had sudden life stresses plus connection issues at the moment. I'll review the current album tonight.
