Blur was damn good ("Death of a Party") and 13 is one of the perfect Late Night albums for me. Very clever and innovative music, and I have to think that Graham Coxon should be noted for his excellent guitar playing and solo work far more.

Definitely an underrated guitarist. With the risk of going OT, are Coxon's solo albums worth getting acquainted with?

So I've been thinking about picking up a Blur album, do you guys think they're worth the time and money? What's their most essential album(s)?

Just get Midlife, the beginner's guide to Blur. Then you can decide which you like best

And yeah, they are worth the time

They only have seven. And they are very different. Get them all, get any of them. Perhaps not Leisure.

There's gotta be at least 2 or 3 definite standouts. They can't all be the best.

Modern Life is Rubbish, Parklife, and Self titled. That should cover their classics. Personally, I like Think Tank a lot, but most people will argue over that one.

Gregor XIII 06-09-2011 11:08 PM

They are so different. They all stand out. What you prefer will depend on what else you like. A list:

7) Leisure
6) The Great Escape
5) Blur
4)Parklife
3)Think Tank
2) Modern Life is Rubbish
1) 13

It might change completely tommorrow. I think Think Tank is placed too low, I really like that album.

I think MLIR is a bit over-rated. It's a slightlyy above ave. album all the way through imo. Maybe i'll give it another few listens.

SGR 06-10-2011 06:04 AM

Sounds like MLIR should be the first one I should get, no?
