I have a soft spot for Blur. I think my favourite is THE GREAT ESCAPE. As urban says it's PARKLIFE part 2 but apart from the deplorable COUNTRY HOUSE, there is a lot of good stuff on there. Kudos to Albarn for trying something different with each new project. I have'nt heard MODERN LIFE IS RUBBISH for years!

Honestly, I'd go with the greatest hits collection as well.

It's definitely one of those rare collections that does indeed serve its purpose of being the perfect starting point for newcomers.

After watching Southland Tales, I've been listening to Tender over and over. Such a great song.

I first came across Blur while watching a documentary on British indie, at first I thought they were nothing special then I watched it again got Girls & Boys stuck in my head, I downloaded Parklife and instantly became a fan. I love how they managed to break away from Britpop and into a more lofi alternative sound mixed into other genre's unlike Oasis. I'd also they were they best British band of the 90's, how many other bands managed to release that many great albums during the decade? I'm really happy to see that they are getting back together again and i'm keeping my fingers crossed for a new album. Graham Coxon is one of my favorite guitarists, I feel he's abit underrated. I remember Stephen Street once said "I had the great pleasure of working with the Smiths and working with someone as amazing as Johnny Marr and I never thought I'd meet anyone as good until I met Graham." And Damon Albarn is one of my musical hero's he has a great voice and lyrics, also his work outside of Blur alone proves that he's more than a pretty face. I find it pretty sad that they are not really known in America considering most of what America loves are good pop songs and that's what their first 4 albums are nothing but ****ing great pop.

I'd say Suede, Teenage Fanclub, Saint Etienne, Divine Comedy and Pulp all released more good music in the decade then Blur did.

Definitely agree with you there, its an absolute pop masterpiece.

Remember buying this when it was first released as a 2 CD set, one jewel case and one in a digipac cardboard case, looking on ebay its going for £25 now!

I find Girls & Boys really ****ing irratating but do like End of a Century and Trimm Trabb.

I grew up with Blur, and along with a variety of others they're partly responsible for shaping my taste in music today. So, yeah, I do love them (particularly Modern Life..., Parklife, the Great Escape and 13). That said I've been cutting down on them a bit in recent months, but I'm sure I'll get back to thinking they're the dogs bollocks in future.

Have you heard the extended version, the trumpet and guitar solo really add to the song I think. Anybody else have the 4 disc version of 13? It's really sweet.

What? Country House is the strongest track on the album and one of their best songs.
