Is that an album? Never heard of it.

You should know the meaning of "top shelf." "Top shelf" alludes to the fact that most bars keep their quality liquor on the top shelf, hence the epithet "top shelf." I don't know why I have to explain this since you are a well-read reader and a world renown music-journal novelist. Maybe it's cause there is no such thing as quality top shelf liquor in Ireland cause they only drink beer?

You of course know I'm referring to the "jaz-mag" Hustler, but whatever. For those who were never that young or innocent, in the days when porno mags were sold in shops they were always put on the top shelf, so that you could see them but they were out of reach of youngsters, plus you kind of had to make the effort if you wanted to buy one, rather than just scooping one up with say Time or Newsweek.
Unlike Woody does here.

Contrary to what seems to be popular opinion here, I never really got the appeal of "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite". To me it just seems like a basic-ass song with a goofy circus music interlude. What am I missing??

The guitar solo is rad too.

...it's the Beatles....you know the Beatles?...and they're the Beatles? :tramp: ....so you're meant to over analyse this subpar crap these drugged up Brits wrote before rock really became rock, analyse it more than Tool :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Tread lightly, Frank Zappa fanboy.

Yes, tread lightly, please. Two things I would refute in your post:-
i) no-one is obliging anyone to over analyse anything. The approach I would encourage is to listen and decide for yourself if you like it or not.
ii) rock really became rock before Sgt. Pepper, not after.

If it's your opinion, go ahead and call Sgt. Pepper "subpar crap" but to call the Beatles "drugged up Brits" is a cheap way to belittle an extraordinarily talented band, and on what basis? Because they are British and because they took drugs. As I understand it, some American musicians have taken drugs too, but I've never heard anyone on MB dismissing "drugged up Yanks".

What's the point of mentioning Tool?
