That would be why major artists are pulling out of the deals

I'd bet most would stay on Spotify if they got absolutely nothing from the streams.

Hmhmm. Because with the amount of music out there, you'll need to be known at all before you can see support. And Spotify helps people get to know you exist and check if you're worth supporting.

Like I said, there's potential in streaming but I think it's being wasted

More profitable in terms of pay per play, but probably not in terms of exposure and ticket sales. Depends on how well you get your music known.
