I read Jansz's comment differently and probably incorrectly. Not that the artist put the music on the backburner, but I as a listener end up taking too much interest in the lyrical content as opposed to just ignoring/overlooking it as I do with most other music.

I was talking about the artist. With Christian Rock, their purpose is to spread the good news and the music is just a vehicle for doing that. Because of that the music suffers.

And so do we.

Back in military school we all hated spending an hour or more every Saturday doing drill (marching practice), and the extra drill whenever we were about to do a parade, but when when we nailed it with the drumming cadences and military branch anthems it was satisfying even though none of us would ever admit it. It's a pretty insidious form indoctrination.

In my opinion it would be the Luther Vandross style adult-R&B stuff.

MicShazam 07-06-2017 02:54 PM

R&B does get abnormally boring. Definetely a genre where anything even remotely within reach of the mainstream is almost guaranteed to be repetitive garbage.

(Ooh! My 900th post! I wish I'd said something clever for the occasion.)
