Pitchfork readers unite!

Was legit worried they'd be sold out on that record because of that article and general press surrounding that album tbh. It's what brought me into the store.

It's been a long while since I posted in this. My collecting has gotten pretty intense over the last year. However, quality has taken over for quantity. I'm buying less and less each month but also buying some serious heat to make up for it. My main focus has been jazz as you can probably guess. Here are some of the real highlights of my collecting over the last year. 90% of these are gifts from running the shop of course. However, some are products of knowing other people who own stores and know what I like. As I get deeper in the community, I find the kindness of people looking out for me grow. I'll explain down below...

These are all original releases.

Gary Bartz NTU Troop - Home!
Crispin Hellion Glover - The Big Problem ≠ The Solution. The Solution = Let It Be. - I needed this for two covers. The album cover art and the cover of "These Boots are Made for Walking" which is demented.
The Contortions/Teenage Jesus and the Jerks/Mars/DNA - No New York - No wave comp that was brought to me by dude who buys collections south of me. Thanks, Mike.
Eddie Henderson - Sunburst
Grachan Moncur III - New Africa
Joe Henderson - Inner Urge - OG Mono
Wayne Shorter - The All Seeing Eye - OG Mono
Andrew Hill - Andrew!!! - OG Mono
Glenn Branca - The Ascension

...

John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane - Cosmic Music - The crown jewel of my collection at the moment. I nearly lost my breath when I saw this in a stack of dirty ass records that came in a garbage bag.

...

This Heat - This Heat - OG UK.
Junior Wells' Chicago Blues Band - Hoodoo Man Blues
The Keith Tippett Group - You Are Here... I Am There
Henry Grimes Trio - The Call
Pharoah Sanders - Izipho Zam (My Gifts) - Bought this from a friend who knew I was looking for it for years.
Jeanne Lee - Conspiracy
Kenneth Higney - Attic Demonstration - Outsider music to end all outsider music.
The Meters - The Meters
Sunny Murray - Sunny Murray
Johnny Dyani Quartet - Song For Biko
The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat - East coast pressing.
The Cure - Disintegration - Very hard to find OG.

...

Here's stuff from one house call that I kept.

The Ornette Coleman Double Quartet - Free Jazz
Albert Ayler - In Greenwich Village
Elvin Jones And Richard Davis - Heavy Sounds
Grachan Moncur III - Evolution - OG Mono
Andrew Hill - Compulsion
Andrew Hill - Smoke Stack - OG Mono
Charles Mingus - The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady - OG Mono
Pete La Roca - Basra

That's all for now. I'll post more another time.

Picked up a few records today and when checking out, the owner asked if I liked Throbbing Gristle. I responded with "duh" and he hooked it up with a free copy of their soundtrack to their soundtrack to In the Shadow of the Sun. I also found a few Isaac Hayes albums in the dollar bin which was a treat.
