^ Great! I read a newspaper review of this album when it came out, but I never saw it in a record shop, and not remembering the title, I never came across it in the internet age either. I'm giving it a listen right now, twenty-three years later! Many thanks.

Exactly!!! In Chula's eye Led Zeppelin plays like animals and the Dead play like they are on the dark side of the moon.

FYI. I suppose that sound collage is the more widely accepted term for it.

^ Thanks, but "plunderphonics" sounds cooler doesn't it?

It's a looong album, but I love it. Is it wrong of me to like it more than most Grateful Dead albums? I like the way the guy has distorted and effectively done away with Jerry Garcia's vocals, and there's an interestingly weird bit at about one hour twenty mins in.
If by any chance you have this album in an easily sendable format, feel free to do me a big favor...

It's not wrong at all, I feel the same way. He trims a lot of the fat and doesn't go overboard with his own ego in the music. And unfortunately I don't have a copy, I just stream it.

^ Absolutely agree! That's very well put. Also, I found this out on Wikipedia:-

Quote:
In an interview in 1995 John Oswald described how the project came about: "Phil Lesh called me up and talked me into doing it...."
If it has Phil's seal of approval, our consciences are clear and we can sleep easy in our beds!
Thanks again for bringing this album to my attention. Sometimes MB and its members really do come up trumps.

^ Thanks anyway. Sometime I think I'm too obsessed with getting my own copy of material....
