Ok. Tell me about Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and the end of How I Met Your Mother.

I didn't genuinely want to talk about it, but I also realize you're trying to call my bluff, so I'll give you something.

Spoiler for I don't actually expect you to read this, no worries:
Guardians II was a complete ****ing disastrous mess of a script. The plot made no sense and the pacing was terrible. James Gunn wrote a messy script and tried (apparently successfully) to patch up all the holes with cheap jokes. The characters bordered on self-parody. He completely shoehorned characters into the plot who had no need or business being there and serviced the story in no way (Karen Gillian, Michael Rooker, and for some reason Sylvester Stallone). The subplots of these characters had nothing to do with each other (the gold people, Nebula's relationship with Gamora, Rocket getting separated from the group) and the result was a mess of weak character arcs that he kind of just glossed over in the end. And ****ing Peter Quill's plot is the least inventive, most unrealistic aspect of the entire ****ing thing: It takes over half the film to even get to the inciting incident, and then the change in character happens for a reason that makes NO sense (why the **** are you telling him you killed his mom, that served NO purpose), and there's absolutely no conflict for Peter at all (You killed my mom? Oh well **** you then). And worst of all are the accolades bestowed upon a film that is frankly a sloppy and terrible construction.

And the end of HIMYM is a load of terrible writing as well. They spent an ENTIRE SEASON on a time period of THREE DAYS and filled 20 odd episodes with terribly-conceived filler plots, then undid the entire season (nay! Series!) in a space of 2-minutes: "So they got a divorce and then your mom died, can I bang your aunt?"

On top of that, Robin was an atrocious character who acted selfishly and without regard for anyone but herself the entire series long, and instead of repairing the viewer's relationship with her, they just told the viewer to accept it: Robin was terrible to Ted for 7 of the show's 10 years, but because HE loves her we're supposed to be happy for them both! No, she was a ****ty ****ing character and in the end we're supposed to feel sorry for her for ruining her own life? We're supposed to be rooting for her despite her being a huge bitch every step of the way?

I could also go on like this for Dexter, Heroes, Snowpiercer, Orange is the New Black, Hector and the Search for Happiness, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Hannibal, and literally anything that depicts a psychologist in it.

EDIT: Oh and Wonder Woman. Or the Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

TV. Its serious business.

I only ever occasionally watched HIMYM, but Ted/Robin was Ross/Rachel 2.0 but lame. Barney/Robin made far more sense.

And dear god on Heroes. The first season did a great job at ripping off Watchmen, but then... Jesus. I don't know what makes me angrier, turning into Sylar into a fanfiction plot or throwing away Kristen Bell's awesome character on a show that no longer deserved her.

I was legitimately curious what you objected to about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because I liked it and How I Met Your Mother because I had no idea how it ended and was never planning on sitting through multiple seasons of a show I didn't really like to find out.

I'm amazed you didn't like Snowpiercer though. I thought that movie was great.

Barney and Robin were both selfish and looked out for themselves. Which meant they fit one another in a relationship because they were both strong and independent personalities. They were similar and they understood one another. Also the reason for their relationship crumbling was ****ing stupid.

The first season of Heroes was some seriously great TV, but it all went to hell after that regenerative blood thing. When a series starts to break the rules of its own universe, that's when you lose the audience. I watched the whole second season uneasily, but tried to keep an open mind, then I quit immediately in S03 after they introduced Ali Larter's 213th character.

Oh, sorry for doubting your interest haha!

Snowpiercer is a masterpiece of ridiculous film. I love it because I think it's terrible.

Captain America trips on a salmon and that's not even the silliest part of the whole film.

It's a deliberately absurd movie by an amazing director who knows exactly what he's doing. That doesn't qualify as terrible to me.

Like I said, a masterpiece of ridiculousness. I can't tell if we agree or disagree about that, haha.

I didn't care for the Lobster either, so perhaps I just don't like satirical films with serious facades.

And how ****ing long did Hiro spend in ancient Japan doing who cares what? I suspect the first season was only as good as it was because, again, they ripped off Watchmen. After that they tried writing their own stuff and had absolutely no interesting ideas so they tried throwing as much nonsense as they could at the wall. I don't even know if I got through half of season 3.

P.S. I have no idea why it was important to Peter's character that his bottom lip had to look like he just had a stroke. Not exactly a criticism but it's just been bugging me for years.
