Are you taking suggestions for non-list February albums already? And do you accept archival releases?

No. I'll be taking suggestions near the end of each month. I want to get through the list for each month first. What's an archival release?

What the hell has that got to do with anything?

As already mentioned in the newly-updated OP, I'll be keeping an index of each month at the beginning of the month, and linking that to the OP. With that in mind, I'm keeping this and the next two posts free for the index for February. I probably won't need it all, but I'd rather have too much space than not enough.

Recorded before 2017 (by several years) but not released until this year. If an artist gave out a compilation of previously un-released tracks which were recorded simultaneously with their earlier projects, that would count as an archival release, I guess.
The album I wanted to rec was a TV soundtrack originally recorded in the 80s, but didn’t get a stand-alone release until this February, so it’s sort of a gray area.

Okay. In that case, no. Firstly, I'm not crazy about doing soundtracks at all (though if they come up I'm sure I'll listen to them) but secondly, the album has to have been released in 2017 and be new to that year, ie a re-recording of, say, Blood on the Tracks remastered for 2017 would not be acceptable. Sorry. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

Fair enough.

Album title: Rookie
Artist: Red Velvet
Genre: K-Pop/R&B/Funk
Nationality: Korean
Release date: February 1
Position in Discography: Fourth
Fear Factor: Low
Familiar with this artist? No
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? Slowly getting moreso
Average RYM Score: 2.83
So on we go to February, and we're right back in the land of teenage girls, sparkly costumes and inappropriately sexy dancing: that's right. K-pop is back and we're among the girls. An EP to start us off easily, and though K-pop is not something I'd actively listen to, it's hard not to like these girls. There's just so much energy and enthusiasm in the music, and overall it comes across as friendly and happy. Last track sounds like it belongs on an eighties Whitney Houston album or something though; kind of out of keeping with the rest of the album. EP, I mean. Whatever.

Check out more from this artist? If it comes up in the list later, otherwise I've no particular wish to but I wouldn't be averse either
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? I have no doubt I will
