The album I wanted to rec was a TV soundtrack originally recorded in the 80s, but didn’t get a stand-alone release until this February, so it’s sort of a gray area.

Okay. In that case, no. Firstly, I'm not crazy about doing soundtracks at all (though if they come up I'm sure I'll listen to them) but secondly, the album has to have been released in 2017 and be new to that year, ie a re-recording of, say,
Blood on the Tracks remastered for 2017 would not be acceptable. Sorry. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
