Explain yourself, Thelonious.

MicShazam 12-01-2017 12:31 PM

Spotify is lame. I found the album but Spotify simply informs me that it's "unavailable" when I hit play. It also isn't on Youtube, it seems.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-01-2017 12:35 PM

anyone giving this under an 8 deserves a temp ban imo

rubber soul 12-01-2017 12:36 PM

I faked it. I looked at a few YouTube vids where they played over the music. I expected to hate it to be honest, but it sounds a little like old stoner rock to me. It's no classic, but it's not half bad.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-01-2017 12:36 PM

btw i know it's a ****ty medium for listening but eh suck it up

Cool, thanks. Definitely better than nothing.

It's not an MB classic (yet) but it was released in 94 and has pretty firmly cemented its place as a sludge metal classic in that time.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-01-2017 12:45 PM

i dont think violet's 1 should count without some sort of explanation cause otherwise it seems like a troll vote

MicShazam 12-01-2017 12:48 PM

I'm new to this album & artist, but sure doesn't sound like a 1/10 to me. I'm going to hear the whole thing before I make up my mind, but so far it both reminds me of Alice in Chains, Crisis, Load and St. Anger. Plus mid 90's Overkill and a few other things.

I see Violet inl plug.dj. He likes Goofle's Pop bangers, Heavy Metal, and hip hop etc. I can see him voting that way without trolling.

Thelonious Monkey 12-01-2017 01:05 PM

I voted 1 because it isn't on Spotify or Youtube. And I don't download music. But this was before you posted that vimeo link, so I'll get back to you guys.

For fuck sake! Now I have to redo the damn average cause that vote doesn't count.

7.6

7.6*

cause violet just said his vote wasnt legit

MicShazam 12-01-2017 01:12 PM

Since this will happen again: What should people do if they can't find and listen to an album within reasonable limits of effort? Vote whatever they randomly feel like? Not vote? Sell their firstborn for a vinyl of the album in question?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-01-2017 01:14 PM

i think it should be up to the person who nominated the album to supply a link

Frownland 12-01-2017 01:15 PM

I think they should not vote and should close their account if they can't find music on their own.

Don't vote.

Agreed.

I'll make a rule for the main thread.

MicShazam 12-01-2017 01:50 PM

OK, so I just listened to this album for the first time. While I would like to remove a couple tracks that came just after the halfway point, it was all round a pretty solid album.
Very heavy, groovy stuff. Impressive variety (mostly).

Obviously, I can't say that I've built much of a relationship with this album yet, so I'm going to have to vote 7/10.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-01-2017 02:06 PM

elph **** outta here with your ***gy ass stupid **** ****ing 1

No worries. I aks Goofle to change my vote in the Album Club 2017, so it's possible that Thelmo can PM a mod to change it - hypothetically speaking.

Frownland 12-01-2017 02:35 PM

He didn't have a choice, I already removed his vote.

Keeping elph's because he's being honest despite also being a twat.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-01-2017 02:42 PM

damn guess i shouldve lied and gave it a 10 instead of a 9 cuz thing arent looking very good atm

The music wasn't too bad, but I didn't care for the vocals. I was thinking a 5 or 6 cause of that, but settled with 7 cause it so kinda close to the Stoner Rock, Desert Rock and Metal I listen to. I didn't care for the raspy vocals, the screaming nor the lyrics.

Their second album is fantastic as well and way closer to stoner rock, with mostly clean vocals. Try that.

No, not really my thing. I voted for the music. I hated half of the singing and most of the lyrics. I probably will never return to Acid Bath again.

Blank. 12-01-2017 06:11 PM

Currently 7.1 average. And I'm going to give it a relisten but as I recall I felt this album was a solid nine.

Akai 12-01-2017 06:15 PM

Not gonna rate this one, cant find the full record anywhere

Seems a bit obscure in notoriety to be considered a 'classic' even if it is a great record

also there's no rule about how obscure the album is. the thread is called MB Classics. meaning it is whatever we deem to be a classic. not only that but it's not available due to record label disputes, the band is actually pretty critically acclaimed within their genre.

Neapolitan 12-01-2017 07:08 PM

I didn't know the cover was by John Wayne Gacy. If I known I wouldn't have voted at all. I saw a doc on him and what he did to those teenagers and young men was horrible.

Goofle 12-01-2017 07:44 PM

Mod consensus. 8 it is then, let’s move on.

Paedantic Basterd 12-01-2017 08:10 PM

I didn't expect to like this, but I did. Have a 7.

You would if any Youtube videos beyond the one put out by the label weren't almost immediately taken down. This is why I download. It's actually a staple sludge metal album though so it's certainly not obscure as far as metal goes.

I'm not all the way through this album, but I like it quite a bit. I think my review should be positive unless it really starts to stink it up, but it's very consistent, maybe a little bit repetitive but I'm not going to really raise a big fuss about that if it sounds good. It's not a 10, but I think it's at least a 7 or an 8 even.
