One of Ken Scott's best works. The mix of Bowie's voice, acoustic guitar, and then Ronson's crunchy guitar is amazing.

Great read BTW:

Wow, that is such a coincidence!!! I am reading a book by Ken Scott and Bobby Owinski too.

This album's really really good, but overrated. Ten out of ten? No. Ten out of ten to me is every track (or almost every track) does something that can't be replicated. Something that is simply astonishing. And that's not true of this album. Every track is solid, and every track has something to do, but there's not enough here for me to say, "wow". And that's what I need for a ten. So I'm giving this album a nine. Have at me, fiends.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

His singing was best during the Young Americans era imo.

10/10 for me = I wouldn't change anything as it's perfect as it is.

I would change probably one song with this so it gets a 9.

tbf it probably is overrated a bit but I understand.

Even though Bowie got to the point of really hating this period of his creativity,
he created this spectacle that was easy to get sucked into in ’72. I can think of
dozens of other albums during this time that I loved, but there were always people
around that were completely bonkers around these infectious tunes and you couldn’t
help but smile (and sometimes, dance) when you heard them. Music as infectious laughter.
Like new flavors of potato chips that are introduced every year, some of his “re-inventing”
worked gloriously with your senses and sometimes it left a horrible taste. I’m happy that
he was a constant seeker. This was one of those gems - but, it's still “crisps.” (8.3)

Talk about "overrated." After I heard this album realised I overrated "When the Kite String Poops." Because in my opinion it doesn't make sense for this Ziggy Stardust ... to be a 10 while WTKSP is a 7. That only a three point difference, and I think the spread should be more like a difference of five points or more - just my opinion.

I understand not every song is a 10/10. However songs like "Starman" and "Hang on to Yourself" pulls the rest of the album up to 10. Right or wrong, nostalgia played a factor. Bowie was one of the first music artist I liked. He had a knack for picking good guitar players. More often than not Mick Ronson's talent is either overlooked or under appreciated. I really like Mick Ronson's guitar playing on this album so I am voting 10 for him too.

Judging how the poll is trending this album deserves the rating it gets.

I seriously hate having to bring my old age into any discussion. I really do.

Ziggy Stardust - 1972.

A Les Paul is such a beast of a guitar. It's uncomfortable, heavy, and maybe the least ergonomic guitar ever designed.

But that ****ing glorious ****ing tone.

Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Jimmy Page, etc. etc. etc.

On Ziggy, Ronson carved a whole new Les Paul role. Dial down the gain a little, cut back on the reverb and delay, and don't dig in so hard. And Scott captured it so perfectly.
