You absolutely do not. TMR is traditionally inaccessible until you listen to it a few times (aka 4) at which point many people get comfortable with the album not trying to be The Beatles and really embrace it.

A ****ing Matt Groening quote for your bad music appreciation skills

"I thought it was the worst thing I'd ever heard. I said to myself, they're not even trying! It was just a sloppy cacophony. Then I listened to it a couple more times, because I couldn't believe Frank Zappa could do this to me – and because a double album cost a lot of money. About the third time, I realised they were doing it on purpose; they meant it to sound exactly this way. About the sixth or seventh time, it clicked in, and I thought it was the greatest album I'd ever heard".

He's just trying to trick you, right? Or maybe TMR is an album that isn't as easy to embrace as other art but is actually better for it. This album DEFINES the grower record. Don't just dismiss that.

Just remember that lyrics aren't music. Not expecting you to explore their discography or anything, but if you did I imagine you'd be surprised at their musical development over a full decade. You might not appreciate it, but you'd probably be surprised at least.

I already posted Train Kept a Rollin (Trolls hated it), but Gun is awesome and the Everlys are pretty cool too.

Yeah, absolutely. Cos those two would definitely have made this thread and listened to every album on Wiki's list for this year, regardless of genre, wouldn't they? Try harder. Actually, on second thoughts, don't bother. Moving on....

Kendrick Scott Oracle - We Are the Drum
(From the album of the same name).
Now that's MUCH more like it! This is jazz I can get into. Enjoyed that a lot. Thanks MicShaz!

Genres, Mondo: ****ing genres not artists. I don't want to get into one specific artist, much less one I already don't like.

Why in the name of the good lord **** should I care what Groening has to say? Sure, he likes it. I do not. I know my own tastes: I seldom, if ever, hear an album I hate and end up liking it. Almost never. It's not going to happen, no matter how many times you beat me over the head with this album, so just drop it. Not. Interested. End of.

Yeah maybe, you never know. I won't give up on them. Just don't be a Frownland about them. That really pisses me off.

If you say "The gateway to [insert band]" once more I'm going to ignore your posts. I am NOT looking to get into any artist (the above I know in any case, they're not new to me and I hated Johnny ****ing Burnette's song) but genres. So if you want to say "the gateway to [insert genre here]" fine, but stop using artists as frigging gateways. It's really annoying, all right? Genres, people. I don't know why this is so hard to grasp: it's in the ****ing title of the thread, after all...

The Rock n Roll Trio. I think it is one of the great Rock n Roll albums of the fifties.

Actually the original version was recorded by Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. that version really rocks.

"She was a hipster, and a gone dame." Wow, that was back then when a "hipster" was someone who was cool, not the negative connotation it has today as a dork trying to be hip.

My favorites are Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran.

The Official Gateway to Rockabilly

Led Zeppelin - Something Else

trace back to

Eddie Cochran - C'mon Everybody

EDDIE COCHRAN - SOMETHIN ELSE

You all dismiss music for pointless reasons that demonstrate a lack of will to challenge yourselves. But no, neither of them would make your thread where you ignore multiple releases.

I'm just trying to get you to understand how common it is for people to hate the album on their first listen and grow to love it after multiple listens. It's just the nature of the album in that you need to familiarize yourself with what's even happening on the record, to learn the language, before you're even capable of trying to dissect and understand it enough to know hiw much you enjoy it. It was my experience, it was Groening's experience, it was the experience of many Beefheart fans. It's fine if you think I'm annoying but you're being stupid for not humouring the fact (yes, fact) that something can grow on you because of that. I don't care if you don't like it, but if you're really going to tell me that you're open minded when it comes to music, you should demonstrate that by giving music the chance it deserves.

I wouldn't tell you that a WISSK or Peter Brötzmann album can grow on you, this album is very special in that aspect. There's a reason I keep hammering this point.
