Sort of like Vashti Bunyan, crossed with some modern indie-singer/songwriter (a lot of such is very low key and soft-voiced, at least of what I've heard).
Not the sort of song that announces itself by barging down the door and making itself part of your life immediately.
I will need to hear this some more times to get a feel for it. Maybe I'll dive into the album.
I really like Vashti Bunyan, especially her singles from the sixties. I've only heard parts of Just Another Diamond Day but I will be giving that a listen fairly soon I hope.

Meanwhile, I pretty much still need to hear everything else than that album. I even think she did a new one several years ago, when she came back to the music scene.

She did, I have to play that one too.

This is in "album-I-need-to-own" territory. Very. ****ing. Good. Thanks for pointing me in this direction!
This might not make a lot of sense to you, but it strikes me as a lot in style with music from Japan. There's so much jazzy video game music that I've heard over the years that sounds much like this, so I'm curious about the origins of this particular style of jazz (as I'm assuming it's at least partially jazz).
That "jazzy video game music" sound you are talking about originated with T-Square (formally The Square) in the early 80's. They've got the cheese factor down to a science, but their influence on video game music (90's especially) is pretty much impossible to ignore. They've got dozens of albums to explore too. :)

You should nominate that one for the Album Club, Frown.

Nah I know too many people have heard it. I try to find something new for mostly everyone.

Believe it or not, that's the first time I've heard them. They would get a lot of press when I was growing up but you never heard them on the radio. They're pretty impressive as it turns out. I wonder what Mic thinks.

It may be primarily the vocals and production style that reminds me of Sentenced, although it's worth noting that Sentenced also went through at least one change of musical style.
First reaction to this other track here is that I think I prefer the previous one. Seemed more interesting to me. This is a bit interesting though. Reminds me ever so slightly of both Death and Dark Angel.
I assumed as much, but for someone who's picky with thrash it's still a pretty great album to check out. It's definitely an extreme thrash record with tech sensibilities, so the Dark Angel comparison makes sense, and I guess Death depending on the album.
Curious what you think of a weirdo Japanese thrash band who sound like Voivod with more balls and more weirdness. I don't like Voivod btw. Doom are pretty nice though. I'll **** you up if you don't like this btw cause I had to upload it myself. For some odd reason a super obscure Japanese thrash/prog metal band from the 80s don't have many videos on Youtube.

Not sure if this is up your alley, but I love this album.
