Some of it, but even then it stands out quite a bit if you know what to listen for.

And I completely disagree. Listen to Black Ken half of that is the Trout Mask Replica of 80's styled rap.
How you gonna harp on El-P for being influenced by Public Enemy when you go around saying things like this? I'll listen to it though.

I don't have that kind of faith but it's not like it matters anyway. It's not that I'm picturing the expression on his face, I can hear it.

Nah I'm cool with boom bap and 80's hip hop that's some of my favorite stuff. But the underground backpacker stuff has just aged like milk compared to other stuff.

Haha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Early hip hop can't even use a walker it's aged so poorly. Underground hip hop in the Def Jux vein has been run into the ground, but I wouldn't say that El's has aged very drastically.

See I just disagree there. I'd rather listen to some SLick Rick than El-P or Aesop Rock or something.

Musically, Ace doesn't have much to offer.

How early is "early?" 80s? 90s?

For all my total n00bness with hip-hop, hell, even I was blown away by I'll Sleep When You're Dead. It was so ... different. So intense and I think I said almost metal at one point? But who the hell would listen to me anyway? But yeah, I'd definitely be a passenger on that train rather than watch it hurtle by me, wondering where it was going and if everyone on board was having a better time than me.
