Why not? No need to be choosy,
when either way, you're already my floozy.

That's kinda sad, he's not a doozy
As sad as munching on an Uzi
While listening to sometimes bluesy

True, but think of it this way instead:
He may not be a looker, but he gives great head.

One thing I always liked about thrash is how intense the music is. Slayer is at their best here. Which means we have the most intense insane music out their. Honestly, my critique of this album is also what makes this album so good, it doesn't stop relenting. 9/10

Not to be smart, but I think you mean it never relents?

You might say that it never begins relenting.
It's unrelentingly relentless.

Is it relentless though, or Repentless? ;)

Repentless is a relentlessly stupid album title. They should repent, but I have a feeling they won't.

I WILL listen to this--I've just had a really hectic first week back at Uni and haven't had a chance to listen to it.

TechnicLePanther 01-10-2018 07:23 PM

Don't care much for thrash, it's like hardcore punk but a bit more tame. Still, this is some of the better thrash I've heard. Rated 7/10. Also I may have missed the window but whatever.

EDIT- Nvm the Fall isn't even up yet.

Paedantic Basterd 01-10-2018 09:48 PM

It's fast. Is that its defining feature?

Jesus Saves breaks up the monotony for a second before it returns to an angry sprint, but even so, there's little anywhere for me apart from aggression, which doesn't appeal much to me in any of its forms.

I don't hate it, although I don't see the big deal.

Blue Hawk 01-11-2018 01:45 AM

Awesome but overrated.

7/10

In the grand scheme of all things Slayer, RIB is a solid 8/10. This is coming from someone who actually likes SOH more than RIB too. Don't hate.

South of Heaven is great. That much is certain.

Hell Awaits is better than Reign In Blood. Hell, I can think of 10+ thrash records off the top of my head from the mid 80's that are better than Reign In Blood, which would include the seminal releases from groups like Morbid Saint and Mekong Delta.

Nevertheless, still a classic. 7 out of 10.

Since you know some semi-obscure thrash, I'm curious to know if you have an opinion on Xentrix - For Whose Advantage? It's one of my personal top 10 Thrash albums, but I'm not sure anyone else on here really cares about it.

It's a good album, just don't know if you can have a conversation about it in regards to Reign In Blood when the latter was released four years before in 1986.

No they're definitely unrelated - it just popped into my mind and I wondered if anyone else liked it. I'm thinking of it as the stylistic follow up to And Justice For All that Metallica never made.

TechnicLePanther 01-11-2018 06:43 PM

I realized upon a second listen I had the audio a bit low. The increase of audio is definitely a plus. Can't change the vote but if some mod wants to I would change my rating from a 7 to an 8. Still very overrated, this album isn't really special enough for a 10/10.

Frownland 01-11-2018 06:48 PM

You're supposed to also provide a short comment on why you voted whatever score. Just a couple sentences minimum.

Votes with no reasoning don't count in this particular thread.

Is it too late to say I think RiB is maybe the greatest metal albums ever made?

I didn't know, sorry

You'll have to take that up with Blank. He made the rules and runs the thread.
