Only because in their early days one of their influences was Joy Division. You can argue either way, but it's them being influenced by Joy Division that puts it in that category.

God, you three dipshits are like a laxative; everywhere it goes, the bullshit flows. Should have left you dolts to wank to statues of Mao, where you weren't hurting anyone but Goofle (by making his Commie Sense tingle).

Elphenor, you fucking suck. Stuff your "elite" mentality right back up the arse it slid out of. As tempting as it is to fall into a shitty attitude like yours when approached with criticism, natural's not in it.

Polly, I love ya, but half the time I just sit there staring at your posts like a waitress staring at Lucem's haircut, seriously unable tell if it's a joke or if you really believe that shit is rational.

Occult, jerking people off with sandpaper every time they assail your unassailables just sails you straight into Elph's elite rectum, and even though it's warm and the rent is low up there, it's not the kind of roof that'll keep you dry.

By Grabthar's hammer, I'm gonna get MicShazam into Post Punk, even if I have to kill all you insufferable twats to do it.

I'm not gonna bother trying to enlighten Technic on The Fall, though. That little RHCP bitch is too far gone.

Then why did you give it a ten?

And thanks for calling me elite

And what do you really think?

If you ever want any more recs, feel free to give me a holler.

I'm taking it one step at a time, but definitely keep throwing tracks at me if there's more you think I absolutely need to hear.
There's a few things you guys showed me that I need to listen to now, so I'm going with that first.
Let's see where it goes... Frown is hyping his album up quite a bit.

Yes, because we all know singing is silly and only uncool people like a good, well trained singer.
I like all sorts of vocalists and vocal styles. Doesn't mean I'll like every single vocalist on the planet.
Cookie monster growls mostly bore me to death, for that matter.

^ That's a neat line to end your review with!

Like someone else who posted here, I am also new to The Fall. I'm intrigued by their reputation and their song titles, but so far have been disappointed by what I hear. Like MicShazam, I find the vocalist's style annoying. Also the repetition:

Well that certainly explains it
^ It's pretty cool if the band put this in one of their songs, but it doesn't negate the fact that repetition is usually pretty boring for the listener and gives the bad impression that the artist's ideas have run out before his studio time has - or he is cynically padding out scant material to make it album length.

I haven't played the album, just the tracks elphenor posted, but with all of them I came away dissatisfied. It seems to me as if they all needed something extra to hold my interesting; a bit of musical development or another instrument breaking out with some solo noodling on top.

One day I might take up OH's recommendation, but so far The Fall have left me with the same feeling that TechnicLePanther describes so precisely:-
