The Ironic Distance by Lowercase Noises

Bandcamp is swamped with ambient releases. Personally, I really like this trend even if it’s over saturated. This is one of those one dude projects. It uses a lot of volume swells and waves. I like that effect.

Straight forward new age as the title and album art implies. The first track is the weakest but the record soon improves dramatically. Surprisingly to me at least, the music turned out to have clear direction with an obvious this is the sound of epiphany section followed by a nice resolve. I enjoy yoga about as much as dental work but this is good music to get you through either. Better than I expected.

Recommended for fans of Laraaji and even Don Cerry and La Monte Young.

It’s long but for a while it builds around a motif that reminded me of Take Off (the novelty song with Geddy Lee) which was a little distracting.
