Scanning over their discography I only found three records that I don’t have a very favorable impression of and those are the only three I’m not familiar with.

When Kiss Me came out I was like “no” but in hindsight I love it.

I tried getting into the Cure several years ago, and it didn't happen. This is a second chance and I'm excited to see where it will go when I'm forcing myself to listen to all of their music. One thing I know for sure: "A Forest" is an awesome song. Got somewhat big expectations for whatever albums that one is from.

I'm not necessarily dead set against Joy Division. A lot of my attitudes about various rock bands were formed several years ago when I checked out a lot of bands to try and find my way.
These days, I'm often surprised when I go back and give something a fresh try.

Yeah. Bowie will be done by the end of this week. I don't want to put too much on people's plates (especially mine) so we'll begin with The Cure (which seems to have been agreed on, yes?) on Monday. And I vote for VU. Meanwhile, I'm curious if we can individually start our own artist threads (I'm asking Troll this). If I had come on in a more timely fashion, I would have pushed the Beatles. I also liked WW's suggestion of Elliot Smith. Also, a Cure fan can start a thread if they lose out on this poll (or VU for that matter).

I'd say best to leave it to me. We only want one artist at a time, and the guys will tell you I've been running the Bowie and Metal Classics ones, and they've been going okay. It might get confusing if everyone starts opening their own threads, would be my thought on it.

I agree. If we get any more of these going, it's just going to cause half of them to get ignored.

The main problem I have with the idea, and I'm not suggesting it would happen with one Rubber Soul would open, but I could see people thinking "Oh I'll start a [insert artist here] thread, that'd be cool" and then quickly losing interest and letting the thread die. It's easy to start a thread, but they need to be policed and maintained, so yeah, chaos might result if everyone started their own threads, and most of those might end up not getting much in the way of replies. We've all agreed (mostly) on the Cure followed by VU, so we know that at least some people will be interested in those.

tl;dr: if anyone's gonna clog up the forum with threads, it'll be me. :D

It would probably have to be an artist a decent number of people would be interested in. (Beatles-yes, Elliott Smith- probably not). That would improve the chances of more member involvement.

But I'm cool with Trolls running the show :)

We'll probably end up at The Beatles eventually if Trollheart manages to keep the ball rolling.
