You could express that wrong opinion without implying he’s not up on his metal and being rude about it

Ok sure. Have you heard a black metal album worth a damn? Esoctrilihum was one of my 2018 standouts.

Mondo Bungle 03-25-2019 06:19 PM

do you like or have you heard Bone Awl, Vacuus, Sump, Cape of Bats, Witch in Her Tomb, Teeth Gnashers, Black Beasts, Grinning Death's Head, Blue Hummingbird on the Left, Ritual Knife, Horrid Cross, House of Apparition, Axnaar, Acualli, The Haunting Presence, Ythogtha, Sexdrome, Sejr, Ancestors, Human Bodies, Tukaaria, Luciation, Sexdrome, Ashdautas, Xothist, Glossolalia, Malveillence, Axis of Light, Ilmestys, Gidim, Cornigr, Aksumite, Ash Pool, Barren Harvest, Forgotten Spell, Slave House, Blut Der Nacht, Strongblood, Torture Chain, Vorde, Urzeit, Funereal Presence, Arizmenda, Ostots, Dolorvotre, Ghost Kommando, Pillar Tombs of Aku, or El-Ahrairah

cuz there's 47 moderns bands off the top of my head that play lofi black metal that is beyond infinitely superior to Neckbeard Deathcamp

that was also a waste of time and typing

I’ll check it out! I didn’t listen to much metal last year but like I’ve said several times I’ve been very impressed by blarbs recs

@frown

Frownland 03-25-2019 06:22 PM

Even if I don't align with him 100% of the time Blaro has great taste in metal that's for sure.

why is saying "if you like that then you'd titanically like this" rude

Blarobbarg 03-25-2019 06:35 PM

Hey I'll say these things:

1. Thanks for the compliments as to my taste in metal, I appreciate it!

2. I'll fully admit that, while being incredibly familiar with a LOT of metal subgenres, I am by far least familiar with black metal. I'm trying this year to expand my horizons but it just didn't click with me until a few years ago, and even now I mostly like black fusions rather than black metal proper. However, I think it's okay to like something just because it's catchy and funny and unpretentious with short snappy songs. While I love experimental bands and influences, I don't need (or want) ALL my music to be like that. I understand that NBDC got popular mostly as a meme, but that doesn't stop me from loving it. I don't feel the need to be embarrassed by or apologize for that. I love the new Ariana Grande album too, so I'm way past the need to explain myself.

BM was one of the first metal subgenre I delved into and Mondo might as well be a lost cab driver he's been around that block so many times.

While elaborating on why you like something is useful, you should never apologize or be embarrassed about something you enjoy. The songs I've heard from the Grande album had some crisp production btw.

I agree. Sadly, they’ve disbanded for personal reasons and will definitely not reunite, but that beautiful little EP was the soundtrack to a lot of country driving last year.

I am SO ****ing onboard with your metal picks. This is like Godflesh meets pure industrial noise. Absolutely unnerving.

Hey, thanks for the reminder, this album ****ing rips and I need to listen again.

I also love it because it’s short and doesn’t wear out its welcome at all. Sometimes heavy albums just go on way longer than they need to and way after they’ve run out of good ideas.
