I think I've mentioned this on MB before, but I love this song. The album, however, is complete garbage. None of the melancholy atmosphere of this song. None of the quirkiness or catchiness. Nothing but plodding barroom rawk.

I love The Final Cut, but "Not Now John" is my least favorite song on the album.

The biggest problem with Risk is not that they left thrash, the problem is that it didn't have enough insanely catchy jams like this song.

The more straight forward rock songs are what I like the most about that album: Breadline, Ecstasy, Seven, Wanderlust. All good songs in my book.
