For reference, I play music for my kiddos on Friday afternoons during “flex time,” which is really just an excuse for them to hang out and not do schoolwork. They’re 12 and 13 so they’ve got pretty particular views on music, and so far I’ve just been playing stuff I thought they’d like, with some sliiiiight attempts at bending their level of comfort. So far I haven’t had complaints.
I appreciate all the suggestions. Some of this is way too out there for them, but I’m listening to everything, so keep it coming! |

Michael Jackson is probably the best you can do

I don't believe in a world where the young can't be surprised by how much they love the Replacements.

^hell yes.
Sometimes kids surprise you, my mom teaches high school and put on Roxy Music once and they actually liked it |
If kids actually heard London Calling they'd flip their ****. People love pop and that's top shelf pop.
|
That's true, I remember my mom also made a top-40 listening friend of mine listen to Exile on Main st. once and she kinda liked it. There's so much old music that would appeal to kids if they were exposed to it with an open mind

And young white guys love stoner rock already. They just don't know it. I can't imagine a world where rednecks and dudebros could hear this and not bob along to it begging for a blunt.
