I must admit I haven't, so ziggywas' praise isn't that deserved. I like the song, they manage to give a hiphop twist to organ church music in a really cool way

I take it, as well as the genre itself, as a reaction against how bland death metal had become by the late 90s. Those bands wanted to sound as ugly and ****ty as possible so they threw good taste and common sense out the window. The first and fourth songs are from later bands after slam had evolved a bit, but these two are true bottom of the barrel slam the way it started as.

I think that Gorguts is more inspired by modern classical (mainly serialism) but both genres are pretty technical.

Ok, listened to the first 8 minutes or so and there were some cool things about it, but death metal singing still sounds ridiculous.
