So I was going through my plug.dj Japanese playlist to find songs to post for you and I found these. I almost forgot about Afrirampo. They get pretty weird and wild, but that is the sorta thing that draws me, the way Japanese bands are different. While on the subject of Boris: "Statement" reminds me of "Gigantor" so I had to add that too. Wata's fuzz guitar get pretty nasty (but in a good way imho). Dharma & Greg - the first one is awesome, bouncy catchy fun, and I really like the chords and chord combinations. Like in a lot of these Japanese songs part of the fun for me is in the way Japanese sounds, it's a beautiful language but also very well suited for singing, I think. Is the second one what they call drone metal? I can't really get into it. The third one has a lot in common with hardcore punk, except the guitars sound more metal so it's less my thing, but still it's kind of a kick. The fourth sounds a bit like Philip Glass, I like it for the same reason
Neapolitan - I like the singing/yelling of the first song, and how they take turns speak-singing like some badass version of the Spice Girls. I started really getting into the music when it becomes a sort of psychedelic thing around 2:45. And the drums! Liked the whole song even better on second listen. The sound of the main guitar is not really for me (is that the fuzz guitar?), but I really liked the drumbeat switches in the Boris song, and the background oooooh ooh's around 2:15 that fit surprisingly well. I can see how the Boris song reminded you of the Gigantor one. I like the sound of the main guitar better, but the Boris song is more subtle. This one's a lot of fun though

Anteater - I don't like what I suspect to be autotune, but the instrumental parts are pretty nice. I thought that I wouldn't like the second one for the first part, but I really liked the bass that came in. The psychedelic sounding synth solo that followed and the beat thing it randomly transitioned into were nice too.
Plankton - I liked the composition, although it's mostly not really my sound, but I became enthousiastic about that part during the last minute Neapolitan - I really like that first song, great drums and energy. I love the Monochrome Set too (I actually discovered them in the Elph on a shelf thread) but I only know their first album so far. Love this song, it sounds less refined but rocks harder than the first album. The third song is great too, deliciously danceable. ziggywas - The first song has a great groove, but I like the second one even better. It's manic in such a chaotic good way and the guitar solos are amazing. grindy - love this song, the sound of it, the composition and the lyrics
